Hello,

I'm looking for a good source for the Weldon electric fuel pump P/N A8164A that's installed on a 64 M20C.

this one is leaking.

Thanks

Jon

Aeromoters rebuild is the usual (and good) solution.

We sent two customer pumps in for overhaul, on return one worked one didn’t.  Called to discuss, we Fed Ex’d it back for them to test, reported that nothing was wrong with it.  Asked if we wanted it re overhauled, or just tested.  Because we didn’t use the exact correct words in what we wanted done it just sat.  Followed up daily asking when it was being shipped back?  “Shipping gal is away”. Finally after a week shipping gal returns, but because we didn’t use their specific wording pump couldn’t ship.  Emailed the correct words, pump couldn’t go until we mailed a cheque for $150.00 testing.  Offered to have someone drive over and pick up the pump and pay in cash. “No, we need cheque from your company not cash”

Until they get with the modern times and accept electronic payments and look after their customers, I wouldn’t send them anything.

Who do you recommend instead?

I had a very good experience with Aeromotors. They overhauled mine about 3 years ago. It is working fine since then. It looks like the other company charges almost twice as much, if you compare to Aeromotors.

why not just go with new and core exchange...its cheap enough and reduces your chance of AOG......

overhaul just to save a few dollars?  what does a plane ticket or tickets cost and remote mx?

Yes, Aeromotos is a little old school but I had my Weldon pump there earlier this year. Cheap and very fast overhaul, pump works great (stopped making strange noises and leaking here and there)

Because nobody has new units.  We just went through this a few months ago.  Not only was overhaul the only choice, but we couldn't even get anyone to do an overhaul exchange, because nobody had overhauled units in inventory.  The only choice was to send ours in to be overhauled and returned to us.

It's possible the situation has changed, but our experience only dates back to this spring.  It's likely the inventory situation remains the same.

Mine 66 m20c is stuck in the shop waiting for a fuel pump overhaul because the shop couldn’t find a new one after they found a leak during annual.  I just popped on here to see if this shortage was a real thing, thanks for the comments.

I also had a great experience with Aeromotors, they worked on it over the New Year's, they had it done even faster than they promised (iirc, something like 4-5 days). The lady in the shipping department was a bit short on the phone, but their work was excellent, I recommend them.

Aeromotors might even have an exchange one they could just ship you while waiting on your core.

Yeah, thanks, it went out for a rebuild and came back already.  It just took around 2 months in the end, so a bit of frustration on my end with that.  My understanding is there's currently a backlog after some parts shortages for the rebuilds, but I'm hearing it all second hand so ymmv.
