See, that's why the world need to be inclusive of all values. I use .020 lock wire and don't cut it off after I clamp it up. To each his own... :)

Adel clamps. Mooney loves them. Must be 20 lbs. of them in a Mooney. Spruce sells a tool that makes it easier to assemble the back-to-back installations when there is enough room to use it.

You’re not just a whistling Dixie! That was my biggest pain cuz the wire I was using was not strong enough and kept breaking. I just kept at it and eventually it worked.

To have all the right parts, tools and accessories at hand is half the battle.

This is great for the ones you can get to. It seems that about half I do, you could never get that in there. And the jaws seem kind of thick, you would need to use a longer screw than you need.

The most common Adel clamps are MS21919 which have aluminum bands and black chloroprene cushions and are rated to 212 dF. They come in DG and WDG. The WDG has a little wedge in the cushion that closes the gap when tightened and they hold better -- especially on steel tubes -- and also the cushion doesn't seem to come loose as easily from the band.

Sadly, that's been my experience, also :) My IA's trick is to always use "too long" a bolt in tight places as long as it doesn't interfere with anything because it's easier to get the nut and washer on without having to fully compress the band.

That works well for the task at hand but creates a forearm/wrist barb for other jobs in the area.  Always a trade off.

Use a needle-nose pliers to squeeze the clamp closed, align the holes with an awl, put the bolt or screw through the hole, and slide the slot over the threads, holding the clamp closed.  Now the washer and nut can be easily threaded on.  Sized for -10 on one end and -8 on the other end.  Pricey at $10, minimum order is 5, so $50.  But, can be used in pretty tight spaces, and faster than safety wire.  Pass the extras out to your friends.

I start with DuckDuckGo, but if that doesn't work I just add a bang code to the end of the query (!g for Google, !yt for YouTube, etc.).

Cirrus use a version of Adel clamps that have small catches, which once latched together make assembly of multiple clamps much easier.  I’ll try grab a few pictures and part numbers.
