Hi -

Partner and I looking at Mooneys, appreciate meeting any local owner(s), doing a tour of your plane, and benefiting from your experience.  We fly out of KCDW, he's in NNJ, I'm in NYC.  Happy to road trip / fly over to you anywhere near-ish.    Beers on us!

Definitely learned a lot from Mooneyspace and several discussions when I was looking about 6 months ago, paused to focus on my Commercial rating (almost done!).  Probably oriented towards M20J, definitely seeking modernized panels.  However, glad to experience your plane as-is as we build our perspective.  Full disclosure we're looking at a few other options, but sure sounds like Mooneys are better fit for our missions (regional flights with occasional long trips, two adults + small luggage, get there fast-ish)

I know there's a few of you at KCDW (ideal!), but we're open otherwise and appreciate any help.  Have read / seen videos / discussed plenty.  Aware of the various mechanical considerations, flight characteristics, insurance $$$$, etc...  Now we're seeking in-person in-plane experiences (and your insights).  Thank you!

Feel free to DM, or respond here..

Thanks!

Rob

I’m not the OP, but I am local and would love to check out a Mooney if you’re willing to show yours off sometime. I’m two miles from 58M, did my PPL at 0W3. Let me know

KCDW has a Mooney Service Center… so you might see a bunch of Mooneys only coming in for the week…

Seeing an Acclaim would be awesome!  :)

there is an O at 39N…. That guy talks Mooneys 24/7…

there is a J in Linden… you can see a lot of that one on YT…

Best regards,

I'm in the Salem Club, we've got a 182.  But I'd love to get into ownership at some point in the future and a Mooney of some variety would certainly be on my list.

Hi @carusoam...and thanks for your coaching when I was doing my original look around last year.

Really helpful visit with RBP, great to see his beautiful Bravo and he had plenty of insight to share as well.

While his or similar models are probably overkill for our mission, I'm reinspired looking at Mooneys.  Focusing on finishing my commercial over next month or so, after that putting the search in high gear.

The cool thing is….

There are no bad Mooney models… except one.   The M20L PFM has become too hard to own with the Porsche engine in it still…. But, if you are mechanically inclined and have enough dough… it is the first Long Body!   :)

Decide if you like small, medium, or large… short, mid, long body….

Pick the engine attributes you like…. Carb, fuel injection, turbo…

If you go turbo… normal waste gate, automated waste gate, and intercooler… or 2X… for the twin TNs….

For IFR flight in the modern ecosystem…. WAAS GPS is a must.

Finding the right bird can often take up to a year… get the search started as soon as practical…

This way you get practice at what you like to have… so you can move quickly when you eventually find it…

PP thoughts only… I like buying and selling machinery….

Best regards,

I’m in NYC as well and my M20F is at KFRG (I visit CDW sometimes). Let me know if you are interested, I’m about to complete an avionics upgrade and happy to share my experience and tour the plane.
