Top Gun is booked into February and Lasar is now in Oregon. Can anyone recommend a good Mooney shop towards the south end of the state?

Thanks!

Crown Air at Montgomery field used to be a well respected Mooney shop, I haven't heard much mention of them recently though so I'm not sure of their status.

I'm in San Diego County; owned my Mooney about 20 years.  Never found a local shop that advertised themselves as being a Mooney service center.  Actually never worked with a shop that advertised.  If you find a shop with extensive Mooney airframe experience in SOCAL, please let us know.  The last time I visited an MSC, which was a long time ago, it was in Texas.

I went to Mooney's website an found 3 service centers in So Cal. Coast Air in San Diego, Foothill Air Upland, Lone Mountain Air Las Vegas. Hope this helps. I have never had any dealings with any of them but it's a start.

Crown Air used to be a Mooney Service Center - I had them do a pre-buy back in February 2014.

Coast Air is an MSC now. https://coastaircenter.com/service-center/

Crown air used to do excellent work on mooney’s but I think they’ve moved onto larger birds as their focus.

I know a couple of mooney driver IA’a that do annuals i can ask.

Coastal Valley Aviation, SMX, are quite knowledgeable on Mooneys.
Several Mooneys on our field currently use, and have used CVA over the past 20 years or so.  D,C,E,F, J, R,S,M models included.

I’ve used them on many occasions.  Quality work, with a trustworthy reputation, at fair prices.

CVA is a Cirrus and Cessna service center as well.

If your looking for one in the San Diego area I can steer you too a good shop. But i would avoid Jared at Coast. They don’t want to work on older mooney’s anyway.

We had an awesome shop in CrownAir till a few years ago but their maintenance facility is no longer. Those were the good old days sadly.

We’ll, it’s a long story but it appears the ship has sailed on this one and I am better educated for that.

Next…

Thanks to everyone for their input. It does look like a good MSC in SoCal is needed.

Sorry to dredge up this older thread, but does anyone still use Coastal Valley Aviation at SMX?  Still happy with it?

thanks!

Do you need support in SoCal?  I can refer you to a shop at KWHP (Whiteman in LA) who is not Mooney specific, but has several Mooney customers, and is trustworthy.  Especially if you are a Mooney experienced customer and know what you need done, he can help.   Send me a PM if you need the referral.

Excellent, thanks.  I will let you know.  Not sure I need it yet.
