DonMuncy Posted October 27, 2022 Report Posted October 27, 2022 I have a JPI 700, that somewhere in the installation was programmed to indicate that full fuel is 50 gallons rather than my 73. I know that this is a setting that can be changed. Does anyone know whether this is something that I could do, or am I going to have to take it to an avionics shop to have that done
AnAngryGoose Posted October 28, 2022 Report Posted October 28, 2022 (edited) You should be able you set it yourself. Per the install manual: Then here are your options to change. I included other options as you may want different values for your low alarms, etc. Finally, here is what it says for fuel related values: I'll send you the full install manual. If you have issues or other questions feel free to ask me. Edited October 28, 2022 by AnAngryGoose clean
DonMuncy Posted October 28, 2022 Author Report Posted October 28, 2022 Wow. Fast and appears like I might be able to do it. I will give it a try and get back to you if I have a problem. Incidentally, the installer did not give me the installation manual. I'm going to have to change the way I do things. Thanks 1

Thanks There are videos on jpi website which explain the entire operating and configuration procedures. You can program it to reset to the capacity of mains only or mains and extended tanks, enable the + option where you enter how many gallons you added. I don’t recall if one can also enable a - operation for defueling. I preferred watching the videos over the manual. YMMV

If so, set the 'main' volume to the tab volume, and the 'aux' tanks to the remainder. That way, when you press 'yes' to the 'refuel?' prompt, you can cycle between the tab volume and the full volume without having to futz around adjusting the volume Edited October 28, 2022 by jaylw314
DonMuncy Posted October 28, 2022 Author Report Posted October 28, 2022 Thanks, but I don't have tabs. 1

I set main to 48gl and aux to 84gl, which is not the volume of the aux tanks themselves, but rather the overall volume with the aux also filled up.

I'm pretty sure I remembered setting 'aux' as the additional volume rather than the total volume (that's what it says in the install manual), but there might be different versions. My main is 50 gal (tab volume) and aux is 14 gal, for a total of 64 gal on my refuel screen. 3 hours ago, Fly Boomer said: If you fill up, when do you get the alarm? You can customize the fuel alarm in the factory settings menu. It goes off when your total calculated fuel goes below it, regardless of what volume you started with. 1

If the device adds main and aux, the above numbers will result in the device thinking there are 132 gallons on board.

Thanks JPI have all the manuals online on their website. Installation, operating, FAQ etc.
