Looking to see if anyone has perfect packable, lightweight, good range, electric solutions to throw in the back of the Mooney for day trips. I’ve seen electronic scooters, folding bikes, skateboards. But having a hard time figuring out which ones fit the bill for the Mooney. Good range, easy to load/packable, reasonably priced. Would likely need 2…but not sure if you can double up?? Lots of things found online but hard to “try it before you buy it.”

Last thread about this I found here was 2 years ago and seemed that rec was for E-Twow. Around $1amu. Still best choice??

thanks!

Electric bikes, one-wheels, electric scooters, and skateboards have been discussed around here in the past…

There are many MSers using these devices…

When doing a search, make sure the search knows you are looking throughout MS, not just this thread…

Look up jupiter x5 foldable bike 30 mile range on a charge. Seems to be the best bang for buck to me at sub 1 amu. Can find refurbished for .7 amu and at 40 lbs can stick two in the baggage compartment.

I have a 1 wheel but it only has a 17 mile range and when out of juice a pain to carry. At least with the x5 you can peddle to extend that range or if completely out still ride it like a normal bike just carrying extra weight.
has removable battery pack so could bring a spare for 60 miles or 30 miles round trip. That’s a lot of extra  restaurant reach!

I have a Dahon folding bike. It is way too big for the Mooney. I also have 2 electric scooters (a TurboAnt X7 Pro and a Segway Ninebot MAX). The scooters are way better, and they are incredibly fun to ride. I have never ran them to zero charge but I have ridden them for around 14 miles and the Ninebot had over 50% battery remaining - the TurboAnt had similar (the bluetooth app displays things like battery life in addition to the built-in display). The scooters are not too heavy (about 35 and 42 pounds respectively), but their size is something to consider. My F model does not have an articulating rear seat, it is bolted in place. The scooters are fairly difficult to fit in the back, but it does work. The next time we take the scooters I will likely use the opportunity to remove the rear seat to make more room. Most often I am flying alone, less with a passenger, and even more rarely with a 3rd person... so the extra seats are not very necessary. Removing the rear seat (or if you have articulating rear seats) will provide ample room for whatever scooter you wish to put in the back. I just clicked on the link for the Jupiter bike... at almost 2 amu its a no thanks from me. As this is a fairly common question, I will make a YouTube video demonstrating how the scooters fit in the Mooney... maybe even today. I'll edit the comment and post the link once its up.

The photo is my 2 scooters in the back of the airplane. We wrap towels around them once they're loaded for protection.

2 grand? Where did you get that number? The x5 is the same price as the turboant or ninebot max. And with the small wheels foldup small but not as small as a scooter obviously. My wife feels more comfortable on a bike as i have 2 onewheels which can go offroading but not as well as the bike can and sometimes there is just not a good smooth road to get to where you need to go and i agree they are fun but she didn’t like the onewheel as much.

After 15 miles i need a break from riding the one wheel. Not as comfortable as a bike but works in a pinch. Only time I’ve busted my ass has been pushing pass 20 mph. I seem to catch an edge everytime. I just don’t go past 20 mph on the speed anymore and I’m fine.
