Starter Relay

In case anyone is interested, this is what a 54 year old relay with 3900 hours looks like on the inside.

Still looks pretty good. A lot of copper left on the contacts. Did it fail? If so did you determine why it failed?

Didn't fail, but had one on the shelf. Starter wasn't working. Ended up being a loose connection on the back of the circuit breaker...... Lesson learned.

Interesting. Is there some sort of mechanism to rotate the round contact to even out the wear? The pitting looks pretty even around the whole contact.

Don't know. I would assume it rotates like an exhaust valve does. I don't have that mechanical knowledge.
