woodman86 Posted May 4, 2022 Report Posted May 4, 2022 At least one of my tanks has a bad sender so I ordered rebuilt ones from air parts of Lockhaven in this picture It is the one further away which I just took out of the plane and then one they sent me looks a lot more stout but it’s different I have 2- 26 gallon wing tanks no bladders Quote
Mooney Dog Posted May 4, 2022 Report Posted May 4, 2022 I would imagine it would mostly the same anyways. Its just a float. Someone here will say something about only accurate when its 0 too. Quote

N201MKTurbo Posted May 4, 2022 Report Posted May 4, 2022 My old F had sensors like the one on top. My J has sensors like the one on the bottom. The tanks are identical. I believe they are interchangeable. Quote

Looks like you got something different than what you were expecting… These things are often called fuel floats… They measure the height of fuel in the tank… which is displayed in weight and a scale from E-F on the instrument panel… The fuel level height is changing the resistance that your instrument is sensing… Expect that there are two different part numbers on them… for the two different parts… Lockhaven is the usual place to go to have one’s fuel floats OH’d… If you bought one already OH’d you are probably asking is this part number the right one for my Mooney…? Include the two part numbers… Then let’s go to the parts manuals to see if it is the proper one for your plane… There should be a parts manual in the download section… or available from your MSC… Sounds like something is getting lost in translation from your mechanic…? PP thoughts only, not a mechanic… Best regards, -a- Quote

Yetti Posted May 6, 2022 Report Posted May 6, 2022 (edited) Well I did purchase an old electric kitchen oven to do Powder coating. The bottom one is similar to my 75F Senders. You could put a VOM on them and see if the resistance measures the same. then you would know. I know this because I took it out when replacing my sender seal which was leaking. I thought I needed a tank Re Seal. Nope just a sender seal. Which you can get from Brown Seals when you order your extra thick gas collator seal https://www.brownaircraft.com/aircraft-seals-s/185.htm call them and they will fix you up Edited May 6, 2022 by Yetti 1 Quote
