As a new mooney owner Im realizing the main gear turning limitation makes it hard to hand push backwards by myself.  does anyone know of any smallish travel size powered tow bars?  at my home airport I have neighbors that will let me use their gas powered wheel thingy but would like to find a travel battery pack version.  Ive seen like a power tool attachment thing years ago before  I was a plane owner but not sure what it was.

Im also curious about peoples opinions about letting FBOs tow their Mooneys, as a former FOB line worker about 10+ years ago I have zero trust in the line workers.  I may be jaded from the workers I had under me so I wanted to get other peoples experience and if Im being overly protective of the front main gear turn radius

As far as tow limits go…

There are plenty of threads around here on how people handle the various issues….

Right up there with refueling instructions…

They are more expensive, but I tried pretty much all of them until I finally wised up and bought a Redline Sidewinder. Once you use that you'll never go back, Also their manual towbar is outstanding as well.

As far as FBOs moving my plane...when I land I always ask where they want me to park where they will NOT need to move it.  Has worked well, so far.

I have a Sidewinder. Works really good, easy to travel with. Don't have to buy their bag to store it, get the Husky Tool bag at Home Depot, same thing for a third of the price.

The benefit of the redline tow bar… is that fancy threaded locking device to keep it from slipping out of the nose gear…

Would like that tip on my Mooney tow bar… :)

I haven’t seen the redline portable one… I have the hangar model… it’s huge…

There is a long topic here you can search for.  I seem to remember "take it apart" is removing one pin.

I am coming around to this. Also, 2 pieces easier to move, stow, etc.
