David M20J Posted April 20, 2022 Report Posted April 20, 2022 As a new mooney owner Im realizing the main gear turning limitation makes it hard to hand push backwards by myself. does anyone know of any smallish travel size powered tow bars? at my home airport I have neighbors that will let me use their gas powered wheel thingy but would like to find a travel battery pack version. Ive seen like a power tool attachment thing years ago before I was a plane owner but not sure what it was. Im also curious about peoples opinions about letting FBOs tow their Mooneys, as a former FOB line worker about 10+ years ago I have zero trust in the line workers. I may be jaded from the workers I had under me so I wanted to get other peoples experience and if Im being overly protective of the front main gear turn radius Quote
carusoam Posted April 20, 2022 Report Posted April 20, 2022 Secret search skills…. Tow bar won’t show up if you don’t know the secret…. Sidewinder is the short answer… -a- Quote
carusoam Posted April 20, 2022 Report Posted April 20, 2022 As far as tow limits go… There are plenty of threads around here on how people handle the various issues…. Right up there with refueling instructions… Best regards, -a- Quote

Once you use that you'll never go back, Also their manual towbar is outstanding as well. 1 Quote
MikeOH Posted April 21, 2022 Report Posted April 21, 2022 As far as FBOs moving my plane...when I land I always ask where they want me to park where they will NOT need to move it. Has worked well, so far. 1 Quote
GeeBee Posted April 21, 2022 Report Posted April 21, 2022 I have a Sidewinder. Works really good, easy to travel with. Don't have to buy their bag to store it, get the Husky Tool bag at Home Depot, same thing for a third of the price. Quote
ArtVandelay Posted April 22, 2022 Report Posted April 22, 2022 A popular one is RedlineAviation portable tow bar. I checked with them and they’re 8 weeks back ordered, they will charge your credit card at order time which I had a problem with. Quote
carusoam Posted April 22, 2022 Report Posted April 22, 2022 The benefit of the redline tow bar… is that fancy threaded locking device to keep it from slipping out of the nose gear… Would like that tip on my Mooney tow bar… I haven’t seen the redline portable one… I have the hangar model… it’s huge… Best regards, -a- Quote
dfurst Posted September 3, 2024 Report Posted September 3, 2024 What do we think of this for 1/3 the price? https://mooneymover.com/product/powered-tow-bar/ Only thing I see I don't like is you have to take it apart to fold it. 1 Quote

I have one. Takes roughly 2 seconds to break down or set up. Quote
Jakes Simmons Posted September 9, 2024 Report Posted September 9, 2024 I second the positive opinion of the Mooney Mover. Received mine a couple weeks ago, SUPER smooth operation and I get to use already owned DeWalt batteries. Quote
