Push to talk switch cap

Anyone know what the cap is called on top of the push to talk switch shaft? The cap that makes it more comfortable to press the switch. Also, where to purchase? Thanks!

You need to figure out switch you have and/or diameter of push button shaft, there’s generally 2 types: screw on or snap on, then go to mouser and look through data sheets for correct one:

My 1994 M20J used an Electroswitch SA1RV20  switch which takes a SW53AA2 black cap. The cap doesn't fit tight without using a drop of superglue. https://www.mouser.com/ had both in stock recently.

Agreed With he drop of superglue. The switch in my airplane is from edmo. I’ve replaced the button 2x. PN attached. I’ve only needed the button and not the switch itself.

Appears this is the one. Mine is a 1992, and will have to measure to be sure. Thank you for the reply!

Only thing I would caution you with use of superglue, it can and most likely Will go down the shaft of the switch and glue it

It happened to a hangar neighbor ( in a 201) when they superglued the cap on the shaft.

That happened to me. Seemed like such a simple fix until it got screwed up....

Use a very small amount in the cap - just enough to coat the hole, but not enough to ooze out onto the shaft. Immediately after pressing on the cap, work the switch a few times to make sure it is free.

CA comes in various viscosity formulations.  Suggest you acquire some "thick" CA for this task, e.g. https://www.amazon.com/ZAP-Slo-Thick-CA-Glue/dp/B00V6DOYBG.  Much less likely to run down out of the cap into the switch.

This fit. Did use a drop of super glue to secure. After dry, functions normally.
