Dream to fly Posted November 28, 2020 Report Posted November 28, 2020 I'd like to replace the control tubes/rods for the rudder and elevator. Does anyone know where to buy the tubes? The joints at both ends are good but the tubes have seen better days.
tmo Posted November 28, 2020 Report Posted November 28, 2020 Are sure you need (want) to replace them, not just remove, clean up, apply modern primer, reinstall? 1
carusoam Posted November 28, 2020 Report Posted November 28, 2020 If you have time... and dinero... real replacements can be purchased through Mooney... start with the MSC network. If you want pre-flown... @Jerry Pressley @Alan Fox @SheryLoewen Joe, you might want to start with a parts catalog and collect all of the part numbers for your bird... some of the tubes are nicely stored inside the fuselage... some parts are exposed to the elements... Got pics? Best regards, -a-

I figured while the plane is down for annual and I'm doing the windshield, and adding The autopilot I should address some of the 50 year old parts. I'll take pictures this weekSent from my E6910 using Tapatalk
carusoam Posted November 28, 2020 Report Posted November 28, 2020 Definitely check the price and delivery on new parts... built and coated to modern standards... and guaranteed to not have any pitting... Depending how you look at it... the price is... 1) Horrible... if you have to buy them... 2) Not so bad... when you want to buy them... When you reach 200amu in costs for your forever plane... you could have bought a newer plane, more complete... But that would have been easy... too easy... Best regards, -a-

Jerry Pressley Posted December 2, 2020 Report Posted December 2, 2020 I have many rods of all sorts accumulated over the years . less than 25% of new if you come pick them out. Part numbers do not do too much because they are lying loose inside a dry place. need measurements and photos of ends if you want me to pick them out. jerry pressley 423 231 3491
