Hi,

I really appreciate all the support  from the MooneySpace people, for all my off the wall questions last one for the month from me.

I am curious to know if when using the  DALT/TAS/Winds Calculator if other Garmin Units  require  User to input for the OAT (TAT) field  manually  or Does it enter automatically  when you press "use senor data"  button ?

When I tried mine today it had all the data  was automatically populated except TAT/ OAT  field.  I had my G5's  setup as Fahrenheit Instead of Celsius not sure if that would make a difference. So Changed the G5's to display to read  in Celsius, I will check it out the next time I go fly.

it enters it automatically when you press use sensor data. I have a G3X and a 375 but it should be the same.

Interesting, the temp data auto populates on my 430 there.  There’s no button to push.  I’m pretty sure it’s getting it from the jpi930 because that’s the only temp probe i have.

Interestingly, my G5s are also hooked up to the 430w but don’t get the temp from the jpi and so don’t display density alt or tas.  Garmin makes you put in another temp probe even though the 430 can already share temp from the jpi.  A little weird in my opinion.

I guess I was expecting the OAT  from GAD 13 Temp data to be converted CAN signal and sent to GNC355 Via ARINC 429. Maybe I am missing a setting some where.

Does the G3X use a GAD13  to convert OAT temperature  into CAN  data signal  or Does G3X  use some other AHRS/ADRU unit for the Pitot Static  Temp conversion?

My comment was when I select "sensor data"  button it doesn't transfer OAT/TAT data  it has to manually entered. Not sure if there is setup  selection that I missed or since my OAT/TAT is CAN data  and since  the GNC355 doesn't talk CAN.  I am not  sure how the  OAT/TAT would be converted to A429 data other than  GAD29B which transfers heading and indicate Alt, HDG to the GNC 355 but not OAT\TAT.

Here is an excerpt from the G5 Manual in regards to the OAT info and how it gets transferred:

The G5 is capable of sharing OAT information with navigators and transponders over the CAN bus, which is converted to ARINC 429 at the GAD 29/29B.

Holding the button on power on gets you to the setup menus.

I did but could not find a choice for temporary display and it’s not in the manual either;()
