It seems that the two better known places on the east coast are in south florida and minnesota.  Is there any place closer that does a quality job?  I've got weeps in my right and now my left wing.  I plan to nurse it until next spring.  In the meantime, I'd love to know if someone closer can do the repairs.  It's already difficult enough, but factoring in distance, it becomes very $$ and inconvenient.

Thanks in advance

you're always welcome to come to Georgia.  Seriously, you're one of the places I read about.  I just don't know how to manage the distance, and a ferry pilot would probably be a considerable expense.

Thought I'd heard higher than that, but very well, 37 lb.  And, of course, bladders can and do leak as well (though I don't have any information about the relative frequencies of bladder vs. wet wing leaks).

I thought about bladders in the past.  I'm already down to 590 lbs useable with full fuel.  The bladders would get me down to 550 or so.  I guess that may never be a problem, but it's in the back of my mind.

Kevin Rushing at Rushing Aviation in Marks, MS maintains my Bravo and has fixed two fuel cell leaks successfully and at a reasonable price.  Phone #662-326-4736

Even though Don is the best on annuals and stuff like that it would be a no brainer to fly up to Wilmar and do it there.  Paul will do it right and you can tour the Mall of America.  I did mine up there and have been leak free for several months -- a record with my Eagle since the day she left Kerrville.  I know it is a pain in the rear to get up there but after the hassle of making it there you know the bird is in good hands.

Joey Cole in Rome (KRMG) will work on them. He doesn't have the fancy new processes but he claims he can do a "pretty good job." I have a seep in my left wing and I've been trying to find some time to get it up to him to work on.  He'll be the first to admit that he can't guarantee things but that he generally has good success.  I guess it depends on how bad they are and what you're willing to spend.

I have heard of Mooney bladder leaks that required new gaskets around the fuel senders or filler necks or the tightening of the various hose clamps.  Both relatively inexpensive fixes not requiring specialized skills.  O&N stated last year to one of us here on this forum that they had never had to replace an actual bladder.

To the OP, O&N will do the job at their facility in Pennsylvania in three business days.  They will give you a loaner car if you want to hang around while it is done.  New stainless steel filler necks are included along with new less-leak-prone fuel caps.  I think that it cost me $8900 there a few years ago.  The extra 12 gallons of capacity might be the best speed mod you've ever done, especially if you rarely carry backseaters and often fly long distances.  Also, O&N will allow your mechanic to do warranty work if it is necessary for five years, as opposed to having to take the plane back to the installer.  Just some bladder facts to consider if you chose to consider that option.

Dan is correct, of course, about the weight penalty.  Cash, grass, or %ss, no one rides for free!
