donkaye Posted March 19, 2020 Report Posted March 19, 2020 So much for "no problem getting food and supplies"... Went to Safeway early this morning for the over 65 2 hours. Made no difference. The store was almost empty of both people--and groceries. When questioned, I was told there was supposed to be a delivery last night, but it didn't come in. Of course absolutely no paper supplies at all including paper towels and toilet paper. Almost all other shelves were empty. Minimal fruits and vegetables. People are obviously in panic mode. 1 Quote

DonMuncy Posted March 19, 2020 Report Posted March 19, 2020 Has anyone heard "the powers that be" tell us what their end game is. We are getting the local rules etc, about sheltering at home, and closing restaurants and bars. Are they talking about a year? Six months? 3 months? one month? Are we going to effectively shut down the US economy until there are no new cases? I understand the gravity of the situation, but has anyone thought through how this is supposed to play out. If we are going to wait until we have a vaccine, and enough people vaccinated? That is likely a year away..... I went to the mall today and virtually every store was closed. Quote

Uncharted territory and deeply disturbing. I really have no words. Quote

I think it would be prudent at this juncture to make sure your household is stocked with at a minimum one month’s supply of groceries. Protein in cans, fresh meat to freeze, carbs and canned veggies. Worse case is you can donate to your local food bank when this blows over. When you are stocking up think about what your neighbor might need to get by and get extra if you can. As long as the water is running, you don't need toilet paper. 1 Quote

tigers2007 Posted March 19, 2020 Report Posted March 19, 2020 I don’t know; I work at a hospital and I’m considering burning off my dozen weeks of leave and never returning. Ever since I started there in 2018 I’ve never been so sick on a regular basis all the time. My camper is winterized and hidden away. Might be time to go radio silence and reevaluate in September.
