History suggests that donkaye will be the first.

No upgrade path; not anything really new; I'm keeping what I have.  The engine takes longer to warm up than the GTNs to become active.  New resolution and brighter colors not necessary.  They seem perfectly acceptable as is.  The TXI upgrade and GFC 500 upgrade, Yes.  This one, No.  For the moment...

This seems like nice upgrades and keeping their technology on an upward path, for which I applaud Garmin.  Which is different than the GNS430/530 era where it seemed the hardware stayed the same for like 15 years which is an eon in electronics.  But for GTN650/750 owners, it doesn't seem like enough improvement to merit an upgrade.  Definitely nice though if you are buying a new GTN though.

The timeline was pretty close - I seem to recall doing the GNS WAAS upgrade in about 2005, which was about 7 years into the product life. But adding WAAS is a huge improvement in capability, and resolution/processor speed is much smaller in comparison.

I was just looking at what I paid for the GTN 750 in 2014; $13,675.  The GTN 650; $9,055.  The new GTN 750 Xi; $17,995.  The new GTN 650 Xi; $12,495.  That's $22,730 vs $30,490, a $7,760 difference.  If I sold my 750 and 650 and bought the new ones, I'll bet the differential would be greater than $10,000.  The new product features just aren't worth that difference to me.

Trek Lawler posted on BeechTalk that there may be some wiring changes required for the new GTNs.  My understanding is that there is no upgrade path as there was for the TXi.

That's because there isn't any.  You pay the full price less dealer discount, if any.

You’re comparing retail pricing to whatever the dealer was willing to sell them for. The question is what was the retail pricing in 2014? My guess is this will be a nice money maker for shops with limited shop time and a 25% ish markup. The trick will be finding a shop willing to work on price a lot and sell the used units quickly yourself...delta should drop to 2.5 ish.

Are you going to do the upgrade, Adam?

Probably but only because mine were installed just about 9 years ago and I like the latest and greatest, not sure what value it will really bring yet in terms of new features only for the Xi.
