Flew in a C***s to Atlantic City NJ where by prior arrangement a controller was available to provide the ASR approach into runway 31.   It had been years since I last flew one of those.  Pretty simple to fly.  

Anyone know of a PAR approach available to GA in the mid-Atlantic region?

I flew to Dallas for the weekend FXE>DAL non-stop at FL240 there and FL230 back.  Trying to really make the most out of the Mooney "personal airliner" marketing message!  Since the fuel is obviously too expensive at DAL, I made a short hop to LNC to buy fuel at $2.85 before departing.  I thought I got lucky when they cleared me direct to FXE as I was climbing through 2k feet (I was planning on requesting a slight deviation later on in the flight so I wasn't so far over the gulf, but I did have my raft in the passenger seat just in case).  After about 5 "I have an amendment to your route, advise when ready to copy"'s later, I made it to FXE in 5:13.  Unfortunately, I couldn't catch one of those days with a nice tailwind up high heading east and even had a bit of a headwind (I had a little tailwind once I got past Tampa and started descending).  Oh well. 

For anyone who's interested in going to DAL, I highly recommend TAC Air.  It's a brand new FBO and very reasonable ($15/night and no handling fee with $10 gallons).  Very nice people too from the line crew to front desk.

It depends on your definition of "mid-Atlantic." KHTS still had them a few years ago, before I moved to God's Country. It's just across the mountains from you. Call first . . . . It's actually still a TRSA. Lots of training in the tower, lots of fun possibilities.

Seems I did a PAR into a nearby Army field right after moving here, just wasn't allowed to land. CFI said level off at 200', but I maintained descent until crossing the numbers. Level off, throttle up, flaps up, gear up and headed out. Fun!

Yeah, I would never get a turboprop because it would be SO ANNOYING to have to deal with all those pressurization issues. I think I’d probably fall asleep behind a reliable smooth engine with no vibration effortlessly taking me into the flight levels.

No worries on falling asleep.  Just watch the TAS and GS.  That will keep you motivated!!

Somebody put a TFR around my neighborhood.... :)

In the lighter color area... Use a flight plan, and leave... or return... a transponder code will be issued...

No buzzing the golf course allowed...

Nothing fancy just buzzing around London for currency while getting the best of the "British Summer", good to be back in the air and learn how to fly a Mooney -like a heavy glider- (just checked my logbook last time I flew it was Nov1st, for some reason it is like yesterday given the 2020 writeoff :lol:

Had some fun today, quick sack lunch at Mustang Beach, WOOT.  KDWH to KRAS.    seems everyone else had the same idea as it was absolutely packed with airplanes, had us late comers parking in the grass.

btw anyone know n7114v or n6958v, guessing great minds and all

I did several PAR approaches at YNG during my instrument training.  Not sure if they can still do them.

Went out around at lunch today. The lake was busy, wind was pretty calm and humidity was high. Rain didn't start until after 4 . . . .

i just hope my landing today was too! It's been a while since I've landed downhill.

Took a short hop to Nut Tree today nice to get Snoopy out of the hangar.  As we flew over lake Berryessa there were lots of boats out on the water.  Kind of strange since every time we have flown over since they kicked off all the permanent residents in the different resorts it's never more than a handful of boats even on a holiday.  I guess since most things round here are still under lockdown people need to get out and do something.  Good to see. Fuel at the tree was only 3.50 not bad for California.  On the way home saw what looked like a brush fire just getting started wasn't there on the trip down so got hold of Travis approach and gave them a report on the location. Didn't see any Calfire planes or helo's in the area and looked like it was just getting going. Hope it doesn't blow out.  My radio was having an issue on transmitting which has happened before even though reception was clear and loud guess I'll have to look into it hope it's just dirty connections in the tray like before .  Was pretty choppy on the way home and sure does slow down the speed when it's like that.

Coming home last night we had to make a detour around a large cell.  I made a time lapse by holding my left arm in an awkward position while Otto flew.  Tops to 550 and dissipated as we flew along the back side of it.  Pretty cool view.

A couple flights this week.  The panel shots were for a three leg trip bringing a friend home after helping and visiting her dying mom (after her discharge from surgery at the Mayo Clinic in KRST).

The in flight photos were last night coming home from NW Minneapolis.  That was looking north at Lake Superior.  In the first flight photo, near the Lake Superior shore line, is a long slender lake (actually 12 miles long north to south) known as Lake Gogebic. 

As I was taxiing out for take-off last night, I heard a Mooney announce on long final (which wasn't a problem, I still had plenty of pre-take off checks to complete).  I asked him if he was a Mooney Space participant.  He said he was so I introduced myself.  It was @lotsofgadgets

Man this plane is fun to fly !!!

Houston nonstop to Mt. Pleasant SC.

Started going to 17.5 but then settled in at 15.5 in super eco mode with turbo disengaged and burning only 6.5 gph LOP.  The way back we had head winds and used turbo so had to stop on the way back.  IFD 540 shot and the wing tip shot are actually from the return trip.

On my flight from Cincinnati Lunken to Downtown Kansas City I passed 200 hours in 12 months! A first for me... by a long shot.

And since the Mooney was in the shop until August 4 last year the hours will keep racking up with nothing coming off the other end of about 5 more weeks.

Yesterday - I flew around with my new button!  

A RED BUTTON!  My airplane has a RED BUTTON!  I was unreasonably tickled by how much fun it is to turn the airplane on by pressing the red button!  Zoom!

I had it done because it better matches the electronic ignition than a key system, but wow what fun - a RED BUTTON!  Even looking at it after the flight - you can just see how much extra sassy sass it has now that it has a red button to push start it.

Stretched the legs on the Bravo this afternoon flying from Stow, MA (6B6) to FXE with a bit of a headwind most of the way.  Unfortunately most of the warning areas were active so I couldn’t cut the corner like I wanted.  I was also concerned about the dust cloud but at 16K I was just above it as it started somewhere over South Carolina...

Nice one EB, that is something geeky & interesting !
Now you can join big guys league and ask for a "push (back) & start (up) clearance" in KPTD Int. airport :)

Today looked like a pity day to take family up but a perfect day to take M20J for a mixed cycle & flying practice ride: London city visit, Essex backcountry visit, instrument & glider flying !

Called Heathrow Radar for VFR transit over London City airport (did few orbits over Greenwich & Canary Wharf, over my flat home and work desk ;)), then went for short bumpy IMC and VFR on top above Southend, then back to Damyns Hall short grass strip for cup of tea and enjoy the Stearman wing walk display (wind was gusting 35kts that would be a hell of ride B), I would not fly the Stearman in that wind, myself I decided to skip my Cub flying and gently retreated back to the Mooney :D), then on the way back I had some strong thermals & cloud streets to do some gliding before it went into dodging TS rain

Landing at Stapleford, I am sure it was a quiet day with load of birds sitting on the runway, I did a go-around, low pass, then land and back tracked and they still there every time (not sure how birds manage to stick on the ground when it was gusting 35kts earlier in the day? I asked on the radio for the yellow truck to do a runway inspection, he went and remove them one by one)
