Hi All,

Getting used to and loving the Ovation2, but I have an engine time question.  Where can I find Tach Time?  I have the Hobbs Meter installed on the back wall, but am unfamiliar with Tach Time.  It has the Garmin 530/430 installed.

POH doesn't mention it to my knowledge.

Tach time is a good approximation of time in service, which is the time from takeoff to landing. Thats what really matters here for maintenance and aircraft valuation purposes. Hobbs time adds about 15-20% hours above the real TIS which devalues the airplane significantly.  IF that Hobbs runs off a squat switch that would be a very accurate determination of TIS.

Hi Grant,

To the best of my knowledge the back wall Tach Time is the only one we have. I have that one and an EI that came with the STC/310HP upgrade and it shows the same number.

The O2 runs the Hobbs time in the back off the oil pressure sensor I think.  No tach time available. You might check in with COPA to see how they wire in the “Flight time” Hobbs next to the factory meter.

The POH has a paragraph that covers the flight timer.  But, the description of the switch is difficult to know which one you have...

I thought it was an oil pressure switch, not sure what I really have...

Best regards,
