jetpilot12 Posted August 21, 2017 Report Posted August 21, 2017 Hello All, I'm buying an M20K with a 530W with terrain, and I plan on upgrading to the Garmin 750. I'm going to trading it in, but I won't get anywhere near what it's worth. I know they retail for $8K to $9K. The shop will only give about $6K. Anyone interested, I will take $500 over what ever the trade-in price is, plus shipping. I will be more than happy to give you the shop name and phone number, along with their written price quote. I will not be able to pick up the plane until September 25th. So it will be after that before I can get it into the shop for removal. I will also have the audio panel and transponder if interested.

Just got a trade-in price from the radio shop for the 530W of $5,500. I will sell it for $6,000 plus shipping.
KSMooniac Posted August 22, 2017 Report Posted August 22, 2017 That's less than the going rate for a 430W! Smoking deal.Sent from my LG-US996 using Tapatalk
N6758N Posted August 22, 2017 Report Posted August 22, 2017 Someone should buy this quickly before the Reaper grabs it and makes a profit on it...
jetdriven Posted August 22, 2017 Report Posted August 22, 2017 That radio shop is deliberately under Pricing the trade. I'd be wary they don't also over charge for whatever goes in also. 4

Godfather Posted August 22, 2017 Report Posted August 22, 2017 I'll take it, my son needs one. I'll pick up in person and pay cash.
jetpilot12 Posted August 24, 2017 Author Report Posted August 24, 2017 I have 4 or 5 people interested in the 530. I have told them who is first and second in line to buy. At this point, I will not take a deposit until I have the unit in hand. I can then send better pictures a long with part and serial numbers. Thank you everyone for your interest. Jon 1

OK guys, I want to be up front with everyone. My intention was to sell my 12 Volt 530W with terrain, for $500 over trade in value. My local shop, Avionics Solutions in Lafayette, LA gave me a price of $5,500. I added $500 to come up with $6,000. Gulf Coast Avionics, in Florida gave me a trade in price of $6,500. That would bring it to $7,000. I'm not trying pull one over on anyone, I'm just trying to be consistent with my original intent. I have a price quote from Gulf Coast to back up what I am saying. I have also given someone first refusal on the GPS. Est_11053_from_Gulf_Coast_Avionics_2044(1).pdf

In a less than perfect world you'd give it to the person you promised to for the $6500 you're getting since it's not costing you anything to do that. But to go back on your word and still want to make an extra $500 over seems unfair, 1

It's not hard to keep your word when it's in your favor to do so. When you keep your original word and it costs you money to do so - that what builds your reputation as person of your word. 2

He agreed to sell and the buyer agreed to buy at an agreed upon price via private message.

The only option here is a lawsuit, let's work out the jurisdictional problem now. It's imperative that we keep the legal system funded.

gsxrpilot Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 Little online communities like this survive on trust and predictability. The unfortunate result of this situation is that the OP will not likely have future success buying or selling on this forum. Which is fine and doesn't really affect anyone other than the OP. 2
jkhirsch Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 An old friend of mine Matt used to say judge not lest ye be judged. I don't know of all the details but apparently Jon and another person do, and as you said they're really the only two relevant parties here, which is why I don't think it's necessary to provide any commentary unless you are one of those parties and identify yourself as such. 1

Were you included in the private message? If not, you're pounding the OP based on incomplete information . . . And no, I'm not involved, I have a G430W and there's no room in my panel to upgrade to a larger screen of any kind, made by anyone.

Then I retract my statement, apologize to you and feel your pain if you were the intended buyer at the original price. Don't think, though, that there's a whole lot you can do outside of Small Claims Court, which may have a $5000 limit. Then there's the question of jurisdiction: your home or his'n?
