aerobat95 Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 I have heard as well what mooniac58 was mentioning.....I would expect to see something at Sun n Fun....after that I think it would be a good time to pick up a 430W...... Quote
Mooney_Allegro Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 I sure hope this new Garmin announcement gives us the ability to load victor airways into a flightplan. This technology has been around for well over 15 years. I remember using the technology with a Universal GPS years ago. It was really nice having the ability to enter victor airways and jet airways. I just couldn't believe Garmin didn't have that technology in the 430W/530W. Quote
FlyDave Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 I just saw this: http://garmin.blogs.com/my_weblog/2011/02/victors-vectors-its-time-to-believe-in-magic.html This ad refers to the Garmin GTS traffic unit utilizing ADS-B. I haven't heard of this product before. Does anyone have any experieince with it? Quote
FAST FLIGHT OPTIONS LLC Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 I was told today Garmin is ditching the whole MX200 MFD concept due to lack of sales and their announcment is going to be a high resolution NAV/COM WASS enabled unit with a whole bunch of new functionality. THINK GNS530W+MX200=NEW PRODUCT Quote
Jeff_S Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 That doesn't surprise me. The MX200 probably wasn't selling very well against a 530, which, while not as nice as an MFD, I'm sure gets the job done for most folks. The MX series made a lot of sense selling with a 480 (which is the setup I've got) or even a 430, but with the choices available now, e.g. mating a G500 with two 430s, or even Aspen as the competition, I'm sure they're not pushing too many MX200s. In fact, I know they've been offering a rebate for us MX20 users to upgrade to an MX200, but as I recall the price is still $6K-$8K which is a bit ridiculous given the other options. Quote
kgbpost Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 As a new member and new Mooney Bravo owner i'd like to thank everone who has posted usefull info on this board. Been a big help. I will post some regarding my purchasing experience. Its been mostly all good thought, and i love owning a Bravo. Awesome machine. Ok to the topic. While picking up my Mooney Bravo from the avionics shop after completing an EDM-830 install, I asked the owner about the new Garmin and he waqs clueless like the rest of us. He talks to Garmin on a daily basis and has even talked to a guy whos test flown it...who was mum. He did say they will know a week earlier than Sun n Fun as the AEA Dealers Convention starts Mar 22 in Reno. Your dealer should know then. Brian Quote
flyboy0681 Posted March 3, 2011 Author Report Posted March 3, 2011 Whatever it turns out to be, it doesn't sound like it's going to be cheap. Quote
Lood Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 I am still waiting for my promised stimulus check. Now, that would be magic if I get it. José Ohhh shoot. Another identity switch. Sorry Lood Quote
Geoff Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 I for one would like to see them integrate a GPSS output (both analog and digital) to drive legacy autopilots. Although I think its more likely they will announce an ADS-B compliant WAASGPS/Nav/Com with a higher resolution display and capability to display ADS-B in weather and traffic. Quote

flyboy0681 Posted March 4, 2011 Author Report Posted March 4, 2011 All the speculation certainly sounds exciting. If the unit is feature rich and the price is right, I will probably be the first one on the block to pull the trigger. Quote

jelswick Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 So, if there's any chance it has ADS-B traffic, sounds like I might want to wait on the transponder replacement I had planned at this annual as well. If it's really that good, anyone interested in a used KX-165? I guess i'll need to also see the price before I'm ready to offer that out. Quote
HopePilot Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 I predict that it will have voice recognition capabilities. This is based on the new audio panel they just announced. Quote

flyboy0681 Posted March 10, 2011 Author Report Posted March 10, 2011 Actually, look no further than voice recognition when calling your favorite airline. I still can't believe that decision makers allow these systems to be used when pressing the keypad is infinitely more accurate - and desirable. Quote

They have raised the bar verbaly....hold on to ur pocket books Quote
flyboy0681 Posted March 23, 2011 Author Report Posted March 23, 2011 The level of excitement is so high that I can hardly contain myself. And where is my "early release" email I signed up for on the Garmin site? Quote
FlyDave Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 With all this hype IT BETTER BE OUTSTANDING (to match those new "FL600" prices that will accompany it)! Quote
flyboy0681 Posted March 23, 2011 Author Report Posted March 23, 2011 I guess Garmin isn't known for their punctuality. I don't think anybody who signed up for the "advance notice" received any messages and nothing is on their site yet. Quote
jax88 Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 You probably forgot to pay your weekly update charge for the advance notice. Quote
