I have a 1970 M20F with the standard executive audio panel. For radios I have a King KX155 and a Garmin GTN650WAAS. I am unable to use the intercom when other pilots/ATC are transmitting.
You can almost hear the intercom wanting to break through but it never does. If the receiving radio is volumed low it does seem to make a bit of a different but at that point it is too quiet
to hear ATC.

Is this standard or am I experiencing an issue? I am new to Mooneys and this plane has been amazing but this audio issue is making it difficult to communicate internally in the plane.

Welcome aboard, aero...

Sounds like an adjustment needs to be made...

Is the plane a recent acquisition?

These sort of things usually come about and get sorted out with the installation of new radios like the GTN....

Standby for a better answer from somebody in the know... :)

Best regard,

The plane is a recent acquisition. I would think that any audio panel would allow simultaneous reception and intercom but it wouldn't be the first time I have been wrong!

Thanks!

You are correct, any audio panel should support this. You've got a crossed wire somewhere or a problem with the audio panel. You'll want to find an avionics tech somewhere who can troubleshoot and sort that out.

Thank you for the info! I will have my local tech take a look for anything obvious and then go from there.

You are going to need to tell us what kind of audio panel....   There are some adjustments that can be made to the VOX.  They can usually be made via a screwdriver inserted into the case. Most of the manuals are online and you can read about it yourself.

I don't know much more than that it is the standard Mooney Executive Audio Panel that came standard with the plane from all the documentation I have read. I have looked for a manual but any resources you may have would be helpful. Thanks!

Then probably a King KMA 20....  Unless you have a 4 place add on then the KMA-20 does not have co pilot intercom capabilities.   If you like I have a 4 place intercom add on that could be added to do the whole intercom thing.

Bunch of silver toggle switches is the King KMA-20

Here are the pictures of the audio system.

Nope not a King KMA 20 A.... That does not look like my 75 F panel.   Mine has a bunch of circuit breakers up the right side.  Mine was built in late 1974

Great News. Local tech was able to quickly fix this issue. Apparently an audio panel can be wired to mute the intercom during other transmission. Thank you all for the suggestions and willingness to help. Proud to be a Mooney owner!
