Which airport/FBO in Miami?

Im heading down to Florida for a week vacation in April.  Our plan is to spend 2 days in Key West before heading out on a cruise that leaves from Miami for 4 days.  Planning on stopping in Savannah on the way back (my wife wants to eat at Paula Deen's restaurant).  Any input on which airport and FBO to tie the plane down for the week in Miami would be great!  Our plan is to ship our luggage down ahead of time and have it waiting for us at the FBO when we arrive.  I will have pre-printed UPS return labels for the trip home ready to put on once its time to head out.  I did that once when I flew my Mom and Wife down to Asheville NC for a week.  Worked great!

As was previously mentioned, Opa Locka is a very good facility and is located 8 miles from the Port of Miami. Another one I can suggest, which may be cheaper for long term tie-down, is Pompano Beach (KPMP). This "sleepy" airport has very good facilities and a multitude of runways. Pompano is 36 miles from the port.

 

Lastly, another suggestion would be Fort Lauderdale Executive (KFXE). Because it's so large and busy, I can't imagine it's cheap to park there. It's 41 miles to the port from FXE.

Let's not forget KHWO, North Perry Airport, which is a lot closer than KPMP or KFXE, and KTMB, Tamiami-Kendall which is probably the most convenient of all of them.

Be certain to verify costs in advance, and in writing!

 I think World Jet at FXE gives you free parking with fuel purchase for a good amount of time...but call ahead...I'm not entirely sure.
