bradp Posted November 4, 2016 Report Posted November 4, 2016 Just wanted to relay the utility of this cheap-o USB borescope. I bought one on Amazon for $15 - and simultaneously I bought a more expensive one to compare. I ended up returning the more expensive one (with a goose neck, etc), in favor of the cheap-o. It was helpful to look for loose connections when I was troubleshooting a wiring short far behind the panel. It takes pretty good pictures of valves. To do this I bend it back on itself and duct taped it to a stiff wire. Good stuff -B https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016KUGVJC/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 3 Quote

ArtVandelay Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 It comes with a mirror, why the bending back? Quote
jonhop Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 This one bends 180° but is significantly more expensive. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GY7C9ZW/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ARYO9J9UQ3I8W The reviews are good and many are related to aircraft valve inspections... Not bad for $150. Quote

I have a very similar one with a mirror- the mirror view is worthless, so I replaced with a dental camera. Taping the wire to it is a great idea I didn't think of Quote
bradp Posted November 6, 2016 Author Report Posted November 6, 2016 I was afraid of the cheap o mirror coming loose and landing in the cylinder. Quote
gsxrpilot Posted November 7, 2016 Report Posted November 7, 2016 Amazon delivered the camera today... I'm pretty impressed just playing around with it. It works great with my Mac without any need for drivers. The mirror attachment fits very tight and gives a nice clear picture... after I removed the plastic film protecting the mirror. The plastic film is almost imperceptible but is there and should be removed. I don't know when I'll get a chance to shove it down a cylinder but I'm looking forward to trying it out. Quote

carusoam Posted November 18, 2016 Report Posted November 18, 2016 If you use Lance's idea, and combine it with Mike's charity work, https://smile.amazon.com/ It should work like this... https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B016KUGVJC/ref=gbdp_vlo_f651a33e_B016KUGVJC?_encoding=UTF8&smid=AGE8XQM095I52 Check the details carefully, but, I think I got it correct...
