mooneygirl Posted October 24, 2016 Report Posted October 24, 2016 I am just home from Texas and the 2016 MAPA Homecoming. Mother Nature was pretty kind to us Mooney pilots this year. The Saturday airport day was perfect short-sleeves weather. There were 40 plus Mooneys parked on the runway and another dozen or so in hangars at KERV. The seminars were great, and it was super fun to see old friends and make new ones. Right Seat Ready! was held at the Mooney factory and our 14 attendees got 25 minutes each in the full motion Red-bird simulator on the second day. A big thank you to Trey and Lela who work hard all year so we have a fabulous experience. Here are a few photos from the four days of fun. 1 Quote
Ron McBride Posted October 25, 2016 Report Posted October 25, 2016 Jolie We had a great time. The seminars were great. It was great to meet new Mooney Owners, and see old friends. Gail enjoyed the right seat ready and has stated that she will do it again the next time we go. I would suggest that all MAPA members go when they can. Weather was not great going west, to home. We had weather, winds etc. We saw ground speeds of 125 knots and 185 knots depending on conditions. Ron 1 Quote
rainman Posted October 25, 2016 Report Posted October 25, 2016 While flying north of San Antonio Sunday, the controller commented that it seemed like "every Mooney ever made" was in his sector! It was fun to listen to all the calls. 1 Quote

There were close to 50 Mooneys there, most left within an hour after the party broke up. Tower was short handed, one controller was handling Clearance, Ground, and Tower freqs but it was Tyndall (Air Force Base) controllers who made the "every Mooney even made" type comment as we were handed to them at about 500' AGL(=MSL) headed in every direction except south. 3 Quote

Great glad it went well. However, there was one heading south. When I left the Summit I was headed south, well south east 120. Quote

FoxMike Posted October 30, 2016 Report Posted October 30, 2016 I assume the new Mooney CEO spoke during the convention. Did he say anything worth repeating? I normally make the convention but this year I am getting the plane 2020 compliant. Quote
DonMuncy Posted October 30, 2016 Report Posted October 30, 2016 No, the new CEO was at a meeting naming him to the board of GAMA (I think). So Tom Bowen spoke instead. Quote
