I can't stop fidgeting....... What should I do????

So N8201B is at Dash Air for a pre buy as I type this. I had to work today so I couldn't drive over to be there during the inspection. So I'm sitting here with my mind going all different directions anticipating the results.

What can I do to get my mind off the excitement of owning my own plane soon, other than look at pictures of Marauders sexy ladies...:)

Pretty simple really.

Go to aircraftspruce.com and start shopping for all the stuff you'll need after the purchase.  Delivery will take a couple of days.  Start now!

Yes it will need a complete panel before 2020. But it will give me a chance to get my instrument and set it up the way I want it. But it has to get through the pre buy first:)

Panel looks better than what I fly behind I looked at the listing and not sure about what the avionics that were listed but don't know if there is an auto pilot if not and it was me I would get one installed and definitely get those seats redone. Definitely like the times on the engine if it all checks out I think you have a winner.

There's nothing wrong with a basic panel.  You asked what to do to take your mind off waiting for the prebuy results.  You might as well start the wish list now.

Read a copy of the POH.  When you get your own POH, find the errors between what you previously read and what your actual POH covers...

Start working out WnB challenges for the various people that will be in your plane, And the various fuel loads you will be carrying.

Determine the various speeds that you intend to use in all the stages of flight, with your various loads...

It's a bit challenging, but, you have time now!

Best regards,

Well leaking tanks, airworthy items, a lot of metal in the oil filter after only 2.3 hours since the last oil change, a vacuum pump that saw the birth of Christ, the alternate air door arm chafing lower cowl, prop needing a balance, an autopilot that doesn't work, a host of minor things and a owner not willing to budge on his sale price led to us breaking off negotiations.

Over a year and about $8,500 worth of travel, two pre buys over 7 different planes means I will have to keep looking. Wish me luck

I'm  sorry this one didn't work out.

Wishing you could have bought beats wishing you hadn't  bought.

The right plane is out there somewhere.  Good luck.

Sorry to hear that.  Better $8500 before you own them, then to discover all those issues after the fact and be left holding the bill for many AMU's.

My first thought when I saw that listing was that he showed an engine TT but not an airframe. That time seemed low for that airframe, although admittedly it's probably a "since TBO" time. But as others have said, that's why you invest your money up front, so when you finally get the plane you want you can fly it instead of investing a lot more later.

um technically the things you listed are not "airworthy" items.  If the metal in the filter is more than a teaspoon, then that would be airworthy. The tanks can leak a certain amount before they become airworthy issues.  Not say that you should not walk this one.   Just that you are buying a 40 year old mechanical device.   you should have 10K ready to spend on it no matter what you buy.

You will always find something on these old birds. Stick with your decision and move on find another one especially since the current owner is not willing to move on his price.  If he was wiling to go to something like $60k maybe.

Yikes sorry - significant metal in the filter after 2 hrs is the huge roll of the dice for buyer that may take many hours more flight to sort out - inop autopilot is a big deal if it wasnt disclosed - both should give significant price leverage - but agree I'd walk anyway.

Btw maybe consider F models also? You might find a very well cared for one with nice avionics at your price point rather than take chances with the low end of the J market.
