1966 Mooney M20C Relay for jumper cable hookup. Does anyone know the part number or which one will work? The one I ordered from spruce sticks open unless I disconnect. Looked in the parts manual and did not see anything.

Thanks,

The relay on my M20J does the same thing.  It's related to the jumper cable connector.  The main power and relay power are connected inside the external plug.  Once the relay is activated, power from the battery will keep it active by feeding power back through the external plug.

One of the pins energizes the relay the other 2 are for current.

That's correct. The third (smallest) pin energizes the relay. In practice the plug that you insert usually has the the the two positive sockets connected inside the adaptor. When power is supplied it energizes the relay and charges the battery. If you remove power but leave the plug connected it allows power from the battery to flow back through the plug and keep the relay energized.

I know the relay I bought from spruce was the wrong one. Its draining the battery when unless I manually disconnect it. Any ideas on a part number?

Sounds like it is doing what it is supposed to.  As long as a properly wired plug is plugged in, the solenoid will stay energized.  You could put a switch on the energizing wire of the external plug.
