Rebuilt IO360 is on its way. Prop shop called & said one blade of the McCauley prop is not serviceable. I ordered a new Hartzell scimitar 2 blade.  About $7,500 more than I was planning on.

Hoprfully the pleasure of a new prop and engine will long outlast the pain of writing those checks.

That's what prop shops do sometimes.  Grind the blades past limits then sell you a new one.  Not that that's the case with yours but a 2000 hour C214 prop shouldn't be past limits.

And since the prop does not need to be overhauled for part 91 the service limits are advisory in that there is no reason for them to officially measure them. Just log it as a strip and reseal. No requirement to check service limits. It's a bit don't check don't tell. These props will go well beyond service limits on the blades. Some home built guy will buy your old prop and fly it for 10,000 hours.

Except that when the blades are as thin as toothpicks the aircraft performance suffers. Look at an early Ovation propeller.

Prop shop says it will scrap one blade and sell the other one for me.  They'll keep hub for tear down costs.

I have a half pair of blades decorating my hanger. Had to replace it on 49M many years ago when prop shop said it was too thin to dress (or whatever it is that gets them irreparably out of spec.)

Let me know how your Top Prop is. I'm having vibration issues with my new scimitar.  See: "Hartzell Top Prop PIREP".
