M20F
RNAV 08 at CYTZ can that be flown by anyone or is it only for certain approved aircraft? It has a big restricted on the left border in Foreflight. Appreciate any insight.
Greg252AY
That's weird, I have Jeppfd pro charts and I don't show a rnav 8 approach at CYTZ. So I can't help you on that one.
M20F
There is a coupled document "RNAV (GNSS) RWY 08 OPS SPEC" that says this procedure is for Dash 8-Q400 but I don't know if that means the limitations or the approach apply only to Dash 8. M20F
I guess my real question is can somebody explain RCAP a bit and how you apply it. Thanks!
Marauder
I don't see an RNAV 8 for CYTZ using fltplnGo. I see an RNAV-A and RNAV-C to go along with the ILS to 8. Neither of the RNAV approaches have any restrictions to GA. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Marauder
Sorry I missed your other questions. No clue since I don't see that notation on the plates. Where is it published? I have all of the Canadian plates. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Greg252AY
My understanding is that you have to have a operating certificate and hold the ops specs in that certificate to do a RCAP approach. Kind of like doing a RNP approach in the US. Although I don't know if you have to have special aircraft and aircrew requirements (SAAAR) like you do for the RNP approaches.
ZFD
Greg is correct. I am an instrument procedure designer in Canada. An RCAP approach is restricted by op spec. Only a commercial operator can obtain an op spec from TC. Usually the issue is climb gradient or airport certification
