There is a really beautiful looking 1954 North American T-28B Trojan on ebay tonight for $77k no reserve with one day to go.  If we all pitch in $1k - I bet we could share one really cool airplane.  It looks like one big radial engine with tiny wings on it - and a small pace for a pilot behind the radial engine. WHat's better than that?!

Interesting that not a single person said a Cirrus, and it took until the third page until someone said a Cessna TTX/Corvalis (pick your version). I have to say that when I first got into GA I was seriously smitten by the Cirrus and the Columbia/Cessna.  As a new entrant to the field I liked the look and feel, felt more like a regular car. The parachute didn't bother me.  Once I finally got exposed to the Mooney mystique of course my mind changed, but if the question is "what if there had  never been Mooney?" then I would have to say I would probably have gone with a Cirrus.

If this was a few years ago I'd  consider an older Cirrus or Columbia/Corvallis, but now that I have a kid on the way and will need a six seater in the future, I left four seaters off the list.

I actually Like the Cirrus, but have not flow one yet, and bang for the buck, you can get more out of a Bonanza for now.  Common Cirrus issues out there would sway the vote, but I do think a lot of problems have to do with pilot decision making and maintenance.  Just like you get a car that lasts for five to six years vs cars that last for 20+ years - all about how you take care of them and stay on top of maintenance issues.

The early Cirrus aircraft after the parachute repack, are actually quite a value for the technology involved.
