Gary has been a very gracious host! The Switzerland Inn is very nice. The seafood buffet tonight was outstanding. Very well done. There is a down-side. Now my wife is going to expect this sort of treatment every time we take the Mooney somewhere!

Mrs.7741M got called into work (Respiratory Therapist) late yesterday for 6pm-6am shift. She actually got off at 7:30 this morning (busy I'm guessing). Thursday I finally got my very own private hanger assigned and got to move out of the community hanger. Still moving "stuff". It only took two years of being on the waiting list.

 

We were ready and had planned heading out early this morning, but I think we will have to pass this year. Next year we can plan further ahead. I'll spend today trying to organize the hanger while she sleeps. 

 

Pics look great..Stay warm, learn something, enjoy fellow Mooniacs, eat planty and...oh yeah, I already said stay warm   Burrrr.

Not going to make it,  apparently my 2 yr old battery and/or oem starter isn't up to the task of starting in the cold of winter.  My wife was looking forward to the short flight.   Ya'all have fun!

That's a wrap. We had 18 or 19 Mooneys (I'll might have missed a late arrival) many of them with 2 on board and probably 50 people eating Smokin Hogs BBQ. But Gary, if we count those who wanted to be there... 

 

We are very pleased. I think everyone had a good time, the weather was perfect, chilly but very sunny. The three session were well received. We're thinking next year we'll move it up a couple of weeks so people will have another hour of daylight for the flight home.

Thanks to everyone who set this up! It was a gorgeous day, fantastic food and great people. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again soon. Oh, spoiler alert if you haven't watched the game yet, Ohio State won! O-H!

I'm sad I missed it but not feeling well at all yesterday I was still not 100% at 0930 (my planned departure time) and am glad I did not fly.. Used the day for rest to recover from whatever ailment I had yesterday.  Will get there next time.

What an excellent day! Bob, you and your MRN cohorts did yourselves proud.Good food, good people, good speakers, beautiful weather, and gorgeous airplanes. Took us a whole hour and a half to get from the mountains to the swamp, with silky smooth air and a nice little tailwind. We and the sun called it a day in unison. Thank you all for making it happen.

Oh, the pleasure was all ours Mimi, thanks for coming! We'll be looking to meet you, the good doctor and 58 hotel, some other nice places in the sun before too long.

We flew in yesterday (Friday) ... Our Mooney had sat (for five weeks) since our last trip, so I went to the airport early Friday while the wife was still at work. I was going to look her over pretty good (not my wife - the plane silly) and do a few patterns. The battery was just good enough to give one start attempt. After that start attempt failed ... she needed a to be pushed back into hanger for about 45 minutes on the battery charger. I calmed down after my mechanic brought his battery charger (I need to invest in one) ... but I was pretty bummed-out until she started. And I am sure I sounded pretty desperate on the phone with my mechanic?

 

My mechanic got a kick out of my phone call too - he said I sounded pathetic trying to get it running!  My financial advisor (wife) and I talked and we think it's time I moved from the open T-Hangar to an enclosed hangar w/power so I can keep the battery charged and the engine pre-warmed...

I had a hard time cranking this morning, too--arriving at the field, the extension cord for my engine heater had come unplugged from the (outside) wall. So I gave it 30-40 minutes, preflighted and unplugged. She turned over pretty slowly but eventually fired. Much later I realized I only pumped the throttle twice, and gave it extra evaporation time. Cold Starts require more throttle pumps, 4-6 X.

Very thankful I didn't frost the plugs! That would have been terrible . . . .
