So I have the Brittain Turn coordinator. Back in Dec 2012 the things internal motor failed, the vacuum didn't work anymore because the rotor got jammed. They did a great job and fixed the damage. However here I am in Feb of 2014 not 1.2 years later and the damn thing has failed again. This time it was the electric motor because I can here a hum, but no spin. Also it works with the vacuum but if I disconnect the vacuum it's dead weight. My question is this, has anyone else had failures like this? It's very frustrating to keep pulling stuff out and sending it here and there! Thanks!

There are several different PC turn coordinators depending on year of your Mooney.

I've had great luck finding components that are sitting on shelves from when people removed their PC's for a more modern autopilot. Might be more cost effective than overhaul.

Matching exact components and paperwork can be challenging.

I have owned my 68C for four years now and the TC has worked OK given its age.  You said that you sent it "here and there" for repair, I would only send it to Brittain, never dealt with them but have only read positive comments about their work.

I need a new one (or repair). I guess that's fair considering it has never been out of my 1967 M20F. Brittain overhauled my course selector box last year and it works fine now. But my turn co-ordinator trim knob is frozen up. It appears to be the old model with the black dome on the back so I am looking at buying a newer updated model. It runs about $1800. Not bad for 47 years of service eh?
