N201MKTurbo Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 I read once that a slightly modified Tupperware tumbler makes a great oxygen mask for your dog. Quote
DAVIDWH Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 Above 14000ft. my dog just barks forgetaboutit and falls asleep. He always wakes up at lower altitudes and all is well. Quote

aviatoreb Posted November 7, 2013 Report Posted November 7, 2013 Do they make one little green birds? for No - just for little blue birds. Actually - I have read that occasionally a bird can be seen flying as high as above FL30. And that birds in long range migration-mode can sometimes be found in large groups at FL20 - no doubt they are all wearing oxygen masks up there as required by the FAA and the are flying high and lean of peak to extend their range at a higher true airspeeds. Plus I am sure they are using Prist since it gets cold up there. Of course usually only turbo-birds fly this way. http://www.stanford.edu/group/stanfordbirds/text/essays/How_Fast.html Quote
Piloto Posted November 7, 2013 Report Posted November 7, 2013 How about a mask for the obnoxious gases they expell. Putting an O2 mask on your pet will make your plane a gas chamber. Where do you think all that O2 is going to end up. On few occasions flying with dogs I end up putting the O2 mask on myself to overcome the nasty gases. BTW you will still smell with cannulas. David Mazer Posted November 8, 2013 Report Posted November 8, 2013 I have used a different system. Unfortunately, I don't remember the brand or cost. Next time I'm at the airport, I'll snap a picture of it. Basically it is made like one of those cones vets put on dogs to keep them from licking a wound but there is a clear plastic cover zipped to the what would be the open end of the cone and a cannual runs to the mask. My dog had no problem with it but he is particularly easy going about almost everything. 1 Quote
