adding JPI probes

My M20F is going throught its annual and thought I'd add a few probes to the EDM 700 I had installed last year. Fantastic piece of kit! I have fuel flow but thinking of adding Oil Temp and maybe Oil Pressure. The OAT probe is cheap too but don't really see its use as my current old fashioned OAT seems reliable enough. RPM and MP would be nice but not sure I ll stretch to that. Any views? What's easy to install?

I don't want to spend a fortune, just want to pick a couple more useful features at reduced cost , both part and installation. I use the EDM mainly to lean slightly LOP (on stock injectors) and as piece of mind (I do a lot of overwater flying with the family) device. I download the data on a regular basis. I also have an ADC filter with the optional chip detector.

Podair...Pretty weird huh? I actually posted a similiar question just a few weeks ago regarding the cost and difficulty in getting an oil temp probe added! I have brought the probe and am waiting to have it done when I get my 496 hardwired and yokes powder coated to keep the downtime to a minimum. Let me know how it goes.

I have posted this before and don't mean to belabor it.  The 700 is not STC'd as primary for any function, so you can add all you want, but cannot remove the required factory instruments that serve that function.  You can add oil press. to the EDM, for example, but cannot remove the factory oil pressure gauge because the aircraft would no longer comply with its certificate.  To remove factory gauges whose function is covered by the EDM, you need to upgrade to one of the JPI models that can be STC'd (and of course pay more).  Learned it the hard way when I bought my plane, so just passing the info. on.

Guys, does the JPI 700 really offer oil pressure? I know it has oil temp.

Yes, It is upgradeable IF it has the P3 connector (the 9-pin middle connector on the back of the EDM between the top and bottom 25 pin connectors) on the back of the unit. You may need to send it to JPI for firmware changes.

Two things I would like to add to my JPI...

[1] Add fuel flow. (simple wire connection from existing FF system)  This will collect fuel flow data along with leaning information.  More meaningful data when down loaded.  The FF data can then be connected to the GPS for fuel remaining calculations to destination.  Greater safety if it works as advertised...

[2] Digital OAT.  Helps for two things.  Determining my engine starting procedure and what are the ice risks to consider.
