How big a job is it to bleed the manual flaps? After my Mooney came back from annual, it seems that the flap system has air in and needs to be bled properly. When I pump the flap lever, there's almost no resistance and the flaps only start to react after about 4 - 5 pumps.

Any advice on the bleeding process would be appreciated.

I actually had the same thing happen after Don Maxwell adjusted them. It took two pumps before they started to lower. Don said that I should just start working them and they'll start working over time. Sure enough he was right. After a couple of weeks, they're back to normal.

There is a T in the top of the flap cylinder. The rear outlet of the T has a cap on it that can be used to bleed them. Its accessable from under the plane slightly to the passenger side behind the rear seat. Its behind a inspection panel.

In my experience (only worked with this system on my airplane, and I've only serviced them one time) there is no reason these can't work properly immediately out of maintenance. What is the reason that they couldn't be bled in maintenance rather than just waiting a couple of weeks?
