Hey all, just refreshing the topic...

June 8: Longview, TX (KGGG) A fly-in to Don Maxwell Aviation --

The Vintage Mooney Group is holding a fly-in at Don Maxwell Aviation, Longview, TX (KGGG), Saturday, June 8th. Don will host us starting at 10AM. Johnny Johnson of Sparrow Avionics has offered a fish fry as well as demos of his product offerings. Also, Kevin Williams of Aspen Avionics will be there to demo their PFD/EFD.

We are hoping to have a few other vendors there that will answer our questions and demonstrate their products.

Don posted to the email list and wanted to let everyone here know that his ramp is nearly full with customer planes so you may have to park at the KRS FBO across the ramp.  There might be room if you get there early, or you might end up in the grass.  Maxwell will have a shuttle and WON'T be selling fuel, but it is available at KRS ($6.00) or at Rusk County a few miles south for ~$4.50.

I'm ready!

Because Maxwell had several planes there for maintainence, making an absolute count difficult. but I counted 14 planes. Counting people was also difficlut, but I estimate there were about 20 - 24. Food was good.I am not an avid catfish eater, so someone else can probably give you a better evaluation.

Overall, a good time.

I have some pictures and will send them to Bucko to post on VMG. I don't know how to put pictures on here, and I probably have 20 or so.

I counted 25 people at the tables for the presentations and eating. We had a good presentation from Johnny Johnson on his 406ELT product. It has its on GPS built in and seems like a great product. Kevin Williams from Aspen (but based in Kerrville) came with his demo box and his 1961 Cessna 180 with a nice Aspen instrument panel. Kevin went through his presentation and discussed in detail their ADSB solutions and connected panel. He gave away a PFD 1000 as a door prize! Not really, just wishing.

Got to see Scott's beautiful plane sporting a wicked MT propeller. Finally got to see Parker's 252/Encore. What a value. Don's plane is always a treat to see. Lots of E's, F's and I think it was a C 1961 model there.

Nice seeing everyone. Let's keep them going.

Lots of fun, as expected!  I really enjoyed meeting new Mooney faces, and hearing the tech sessions about Don's ELT manufacturer neighbor...that one has moved up my list of things to do.  The Aspen demo was great as well, even if the rep flies his family's '61 182.   :P

I borrowed a vehicle to make a BBQ run with my Dad and Parker, and we got it to go so we could enjoy the presentations while everyone else was feasting on catfish.  The BBQ was good...no surprise.

We need to have name tags with our Mooneyspace alias on it so we know who we are meeting in person. I rode down with N555ED. I thought the catfish was the best I've had in years.

Wouldn't it be easier to use one's real name on Mooneyspace rather than an alias. Or at least post the name in the profile.

Some of us have common names and don't have the luxury of a unique name not used by others. Those of us with common names, as well as those in the Govt witness protection program, need a unique alias to give us an identity not shared with the other Jones' and Smiths.

Thanks, guys. Sorry I missed it.

Gary, Parker went on and on about how you copied his paint. I thought you should know.

That's a joke of course. We need to copy the Florida formula here in the mid-south. You guys seem to have some good fly-ins.
