Dood Posted April 28, 2013 Report Posted April 28, 2013 I'm currently under trim command trouble: I left my plane for removing heat dashboard( to apply leather on it) and when it come back, the electrical trim button on the wheel don't work. So the Autopilot don't work properly. The mechanics don't find the bug. The rocker switch is under tension, but nothing happens when I pull the trim command. Have you got an idea ? Has someone a electrical scheme for a 89' M20J ? Thank U in advance
N201MKTurbo Posted April 28, 2013 Report Posted April 28, 2013 What kind of electric trim do you have. If you have a century the disconnect relay box is mounted on the firewall just to the right of the vacuum regulator. It usually causes this problem. Make sure he didn't knock the connector loose.
chrisk Posted April 28, 2013 Report Posted April 28, 2013 I have a similar problem. Sometimes the electric trim seems to work. Other days it doesn't. I haven't taken the time to find out what is going on, since the manual trim works just fine.
OR75 Posted April 28, 2013 Report Posted April 28, 2013 What kind of autopilot is it ? What kind of electric trim is it ?
chrisk Posted April 29, 2013 Report Posted April 29, 2013 The auto pilot is a Stec 30. I have no idea what kind of trim system is installed. It has two buttons that need to be pushed together with your thumb. I'll have to see if the behavior changes with the auto pilot settings
Marauder Posted April 29, 2013 Report Posted April 29, 2013 Make sure the trim mechanism is properly lubed and working correctly. If not, all bets are off on the STEC system. Mine was binding and my autotrim would not work and if I remembered correctly, popped the trim breaker.
Marauder Posted April 29, 2013 Report Posted April 29, 2013 Also, if it is the switch, STEC charges a pretty penny for it. There is an alternative and it looks like they have approval now to sell it as a replacement: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/elpages/trimSwitches.php?clickkey=5126
jetdriven Posted April 29, 2013 Report Posted April 29, 2013 The Century trim has two diodes in the circuit and they are located inside a plastic sleeve wrapped to a tube on the copilot right side. The solid copper wire on both of ours were broken, and the trim was intermittent, mostly not working. 5,000 hours does that to solid copper wire soldered to stranded 22 ga tefzel wire. We fixed it.
Dood Posted May 2, 2013 Author Report Posted May 2, 2013 Hello, I'm still looking for the schema. We need it for making wiring test, it's the trim which came with a KFC 150 ? anyone have it ? thanks, Cyrille
N201MKTurbo Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 I have all the trim schematics, but I'm in NOLA for jazz fest with the wife and Mooney. You will have to wait till I get home.
