timpercarpio Posted March 9, 2013 Report Posted March 9, 2013 Has anyone used or heard positive or negative comments about Savvy Maintenance? They are the company owned by Mike Busch and they oversee the maintenance of your airplane. Quote
danb35 Posted March 9, 2013 Report Posted March 9, 2013 I've not used the Savvy Mx program itself. I've talked with Mike, and been to one of his seminars, and his philosophy on maintenance makes a lot of sense to me. I would see the program having value if you weren't otherwise very hands-on in your maintenance, or possibly for AOG situations. Quote
1964-M20E Posted March 9, 2013 Report Posted March 9, 2013 I've read most of his articles on AVweb I agree with many of his ideas. Everything that I am legally allowed to do on my plane I do myself and most other things I do under supervision. There are very few times I leave the plane for someone else to work on when I'm not there. http://www.avweb.com/news/savvyaviator/list.html Quote
Oscar Avalle Posted March 9, 2013 Report Posted March 9, 2013 i used them and they do a nice job. for an extra fee they provide you with an analysis of your jpi data. Quote
timpercarpio Posted March 9, 2013 Author Report Posted March 9, 2013 Thanks for the info. The problem we're having is finding a shop that knows Mooneys and works with Savvy. Quote
BigTex Posted March 9, 2013 Report Posted March 9, 2013 They only manage newer planes so you'll need to find out if your plane is eligible. Mine is not. Quote
timpercarpio Posted March 9, 2013 Author Report Posted March 9, 2013 They will work with our plane. Quote
danb35 Posted March 9, 2013 Report Posted March 9, 2013 They only manage newer planes so you'll need to find out if your plane is eligible. Mine is not. More specifically, "Savvy reserves the right to decline to manage the maintenance of any aircraft manufactured prior to 1970. We do evaluate these on a case-by-case basis, with strong emphasis on determining whether or not the aircraft still has factory support and parts availability. For example, we will sometimes accept a 60s-vintage Bonanza or Cessna because those aircraft are still well-supported by the manufacturer and most parts are still readily available." See https://www.savvymx.com/index.php/faq/qualify#old_aircraft for more. Quote
carusoam Posted March 9, 2013 Report Posted March 9, 2013 I read that as they are guaranteeing a high level of dispatch reliability. Aka expensive for the type of weekend flying that I intend to do. Anyone else...? Best regards, -a- Quote
Alan Fox Posted March 10, 2013 Report Posted March 10, 2013 My IA has unwillingly become the caretaker of a lot of mooneys , He is extremely reasonable , and is getting fiarly well versed in these aircraft.......His shop is the typical messy nowhere to put stuff shop , but he takes care of my Beech and Mooney (owner assisted ) and I have no complaints.....I think I saw Smiles plane in his hangar last night..... John Pursell Posted March 10, 2013 Report Posted March 10, 2013 Savvy is popular with the Cirrus crowd and I think Mike manages a significant percentage of the fleet. I'm on the COPA site and they think he walks on water. John Quote
