Bob_Belville Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 My buddy insisted the delivery company get us 3 hotel rooms in Lakeland. they told him they got 3 of the last 5 in town, Don't know where... Quote
carusoam Posted April 9, 2013 Author Report Posted April 9, 2013 Bob, There is a place to order fuel. The little house that houses the organizers will take your fuel order and your payments for renting space, Best regards, -a- Quote
Marauder Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 So,other than being jealous of you guys who could get away to be there, a couple of quick questions. Do you know if JPI does any sort of promotion during the show and if they do could you let me know what an 830 is going for? Quote
rbridges Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 Neither Mooney nor MAPA will have booths. Â Â the only time I went, they had a mooney on display for $600,000. Â I sent a pic to my wife and asked if I could buy it. Â Needless to say, I'm still flying my C model. Quote

I am also looking for the minimax tug and the concorde battery, (My RG 35 AXC was installed Jan 07. Still going strong but unlikely to go much longer.) Wonder if GAMI will be there? Quote
aaronk25 Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 I'm going....I'll be coming in around 4 or so on Friday and camping Fri and Sat. Â It would be fun to meet up with some mooney drivers. Â I'll have beer and crown for fellow mooney drivers for evening story telling. Â Aaron. Quote
carusoam Posted April 10, 2013 Author Report Posted April 10, 2013 Congrats on the life of your Concord! Quote
FloridaMan Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 Well, I flew in and am parked near a whole bunch of Mooneys. I'm probably the only F with a lopresti cowling near Lance Aviation Quote

They give you a form to fill out and attach to your prop. Sometime when I wasn't watching, the fuel truck came by and topped me off. Put it out the day before; you'll probably see them on other planes. Â Ya'll have a good time down there for those of us experiencing SNF vicariously this year. Fly Safe!! Quote
FloridaMan Posted April 11, 2013 Report Posted April 11, 2013 I managed to get in without getting charged for parking or admission. I don't know how it happened. I spent a good 15-20 minutes with my plane tying it down and cleaning the bugs off. Then I walk through a gate that had a tram going through it and I thought ticket sales were on the other side of the gate. After a little more walking I realized that I was completely inside the show. Quote
Bob_Belville Posted April 11, 2013 Report Posted April 11, 2013 Arrived about  8:30 yesterday. Procedure works great. We flew to the smoke stacks, turned west and did what we were told. Met Mooniac Mike Elliott. Quote

Met Mooniac Mike Elliott.  Were you parked near a bunch of other Mooneys? I think your plane may have been a couple rows up from me and you left before me.  Yesterday's arrival was easy. I've come in on a Friday before and it's nuts. They had me in a long line of planes circling the lake a couple years ago and we were landing two at a time on the taxiway. Quote

Bob_Belville Posted April 11, 2013 Report Posted April 11, 2013 We left LAL about 2:30 to beat a pretty strong line of weather coming into our area later this evening. Again, SnF procedures went very smoothly. We were escorted to 9R, did a run up while taxiing and were on our way. 10 minutes later we picked up our clearance from Orlando before reaching our initial fix, (A swarm of honey bees were on my Mooney when we came to it this afternoon. Don't know how they knew I keep bees? No big deal, I suppose they recovered from the rude treatment when I turned on the big fan and pulled out!)Â Quote
Bob_Belville Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 My buddy turned on his camera for the SnF arrival. It's a 2 man job. Jason on the radio, I'm flying the plane. (It did not seems as hectic as it sounds.) Â 1 Quote
carusoam Posted April 12, 2013 Author Report Posted April 12, 2013 Thanks for letting us ride in the back, Bob! Best regards, -a- Quote
BigTex Posted April 13, 2013 Report Posted April 13, 2013 That video shows yet another reason I love my mooney... ATC was calling out planes as they flew by as high wing or low wing with the exception of your Mooney. Our planes are so cool there's no way you'd be mistaken for one of those other low wings. #mooneysoul 2 Quote
bd32322 Posted April 13, 2013 Report Posted April 13, 2013 Yeah I am jealous of the panel  Question: never flown in to one of these aviation expos - why does one need to land on a dot - whats the harm in landing before it? Quote

carusoam Posted April 13, 2013 Author Report Posted April 13, 2013 There is a dot so you stay organized in space. There are four dots on two runways. One ship is landing short and the other is landing long on the same runway at nearly the same time. If you are not able to stay high and put down on your spot, you will be going around... It's a little challenging, but only the most busy times are this full. You can see in the video how helpful it is to have a knowledgable co-pilot... It realy is cool to be a Mooney pilot! Best regards, -a- 1 Quote
fantom Posted April 13, 2013 Report Posted April 13, 2013 You can see in the video how helpful it is to have a knowledgable co-pilot... Â Â ONLY if the two of you have a very clear understanding of who does what, and exactly what's expected of the 'co-pilot'. Otherwise it can be both a PIA, and flat unsafe to have another pilot fiddling, changing settings, and talking when you don't need advise. It's called CRM, cockpit resource management, and it takes time and understanding to get right. Quote
carusoam Posted April 13, 2013 Author Report Posted April 13, 2013 Interesting point Gary. Does anyone have a list of roles and responsibilities for CRM applicable to Mooney aviation? How do Byron and Becca handle this? Best regards, -a- Quote
