Work with a good AME. Things have changed a bit over the last few years.

Without sharing too much, you can ask his experience with similar issues as you may have and how to best handle them.

For example, High blood pressure, stents and anti coagulants can be acceptable medications. Even heart attacks don't necessarily keep you from flying. (I am not a doctor, but I have recent experience talking with many of them)

Check AOPA list of medications to be sure. Seek professional help. It does exist. Don't fly slower than you need to.
