Where and how to adjust K-factor for fuel flow sensor in G1000?

Hi All,

Anyone know how straightforward it is to adjust the K-factor used from the fuel flow sensor, within the G1000 system? My fuel flow is probably reading a bit high, per Savvy's take over time, and per some of my own fuel tracking (comparing fills to what the totalizer says, over fills ups, comparing collar-to-collar points in time). E.g. TOT says I've burned about 102gal but the fuel truck says 100gal. I'd like to dial in the K-factor over time.

I've found some snippets on the web about power-cycling with the ENT key held down, but am loathe to do anything without some better documentation (e.g. a G1000 manual).

Does anyhow have:

1. specific thoughts on this situation?

2. any links to an appropriate G1000W manual (latest software rev, M20TN installation)

Thanks!

That's only a 2% difference, or one gallon per side, which is easily within a margin of error of differences in how line guys top off an airplane. It wouldn't concern me.

Eventually the transducers slowly fail. The Service Manual says that the life expectancy is 1500 hours on the transducer.

Yeah David that’s pretty close I wouldn’t be concerned wonder if you changed the flow if you’d ever get it close again. At least it’s reading on the safe side. When I get fuel sat topped off at the 100 gallon I put 94-95 in the fuel totalizer for a safety net even though I plan on the appropriate 45 minute reserve. I like to land with 10 a side for my safety margin. We’ve got enough to worry about without fuel levels making my bad days worse. Love your paint scheme Dave..

Thanks! The "Bandit" scheme is pretty nice, a bit understated, too. It's even better when the plane is clean! (which occurs, occasionally...)

It’s also a function of how fast the tanks are filled.
im pretty sure you can actually get more than 102 gallons if you are patient.
I have found my fuel gauges on all my planes to be pretty inaccurate until they are really low, and that has varied great.y from plane to plane.
however, all of the totalizers to be really accurate.
I was intent on finding out how much fuel I could actually run out of tank, and flew with my hand on the selector for 20 minutes well after I got into the red.

my anxiousness got the best of me and I switched tanks. When I landed and fueled up, that tank took more than 49 gallons.

Attitude matters a lot here.  Since we are generally running the tanks down towards the end of a flight, and pitching down, the gauges read low and the warning on G1000 and on the annunciator panel annunciate early.

In level flight, the G1000 warns at 10 gallons remaining, and the annunciator panel goes off at 8.

Like many of you, I try to land with 10/10 gallons L/R minimum.

.  @dkkim73 I wouldn’t throw a bunch of $ at this.  My indicated fuel flows are maybe 0.5-0.75 less than book @50 LOP, yet somehow I have an extra gallon or 2 onboard when I fill up. Close enough.
