Guest Posted May 28, 2024 Report Posted May 28, 2024 I’m going to fly from Houston to Cape Canaveral to visit family. I like to go nonstop, but my wife and daughter want a fuel stop, so I guess I’m stopping. Any good recommendations as to good fbos to stop at on the way? Maybe make it a food stop if there is any good food on the way… Quote
Hank Posted May 28, 2024 Report Posted May 28, 2024 Go to Gulf Shores. Lulu's abuts the airport, easy walk. Lulu was Jimmy Buffet's sister. 2 Quote

Ali Posted May 28, 2024 Report Posted May 28, 2024 Hello, If you're making a fuel stop along the way, you might as well make it a delicious one too! Some great FBOs to consider for a food stop could be Signature Flight Support or Atlantic Aviation. Both usually have great amenities and may offer some tasty options nearby. Safe travels and enjoy your time with family in Cape Canaveral! I hope this will help you, Thank you Quote
Bartman Posted May 28, 2024 Report Posted May 28, 2024 If the weather holds, we are going to Kennedy Space Center this weekend for the Boeing Starliner launch scheduled for 6/1 at 12:25pm. Quote
teethdoc Posted May 28, 2024 Report Posted May 28, 2024 KJKA is a good stop but fuel is high. For cheap fuel, several of the small strips a little more inland can’t be beat. JKA used to be my version of $100 hamburger. Fly in on a Friday morning with a cooler, grab a crew car and drive a mile to a local seafood market and grab fresh shrimp, back home to cook fresh seafood. 2 Quote

They have courtesy cars and good prices on fuel and friendly people. Quote
Yetti Posted May 28, 2024 Report Posted May 28, 2024 I generally stop here after ducking under class B on the North Side. Not sure about eats. https://www.airnav.com/airport/5R8 Quote
exM20K Posted May 28, 2024 Report Posted May 28, 2024 F95, Calhoun County, has a newly built pilot lounge and $4.95 self serve gas. No instrument approach and nothing really around there, but nice folks and a nice field. KAAF for expensive gas and a great seafood lunch in town. PM me if you go that way, and maybe I can meet up for lunch if I’m down there. -dan Quote
