I closed today on my first Mooney, N916MP a 1994 M20R w 310HP STC.

Thank you to everyone here for answering my many questions and giving me the info and opinions I needed that helped me decide to buy an Ovation. I'm flying out to Indiana to pick it up on Monday and will be flying it with a Mooney rated CFII back here to Las Vegas. I need 10 hours and 10 landing for insurance - I'll have that done by the time we get back. Monday will be getting familiar with the aircraft and its systems, pattern work etc and Tuesday the flight west.

Excited doesn't begin to describe it!

So I bought my J from Indy Air Sales in December. This was my transition training instructor's plane. I saw it for sale a month or so ago and texted him about it. He didn't elaborate on why he was selling but he definitely loved that plane and couldn't say enough good about it when we were flying off my hours. I could tell he wasn't crazy about selling but I'm guessing something came up in his life. He was an older guy. Good luck and hopefully it gives you many years of fun. Their great planes and I think my J lands easier than my Cherokee.

It had something to do with him selling his place in Florida. Apparently he bought an RV7.

That makes sense. He did say he used it to get to his place in Florida a few times a year.

That plane was on my list as well. Loved the avionics and the TKS and that useful load. I took a pic of the dash and sent it to Sarasota Avionics for a quote on getting a G3X 7” display put on the right side. I will attach them here

The more expensive setup has all the redundancies.

I changed to a 7" on the right side, but did not go with another AHRS and other bits.  Just the display.  I have an AHRS on the left panel.  I have the G-5 which has an AHRS.  The GTX-345 has an AHRS.  And I have an AERA 760 (it was planned for the right seat) that has an AHRS.

I would suggest shopping around.  You can get done for a lot less.

Thanks for this, Jim. I didn't see the post until today. I'm going to put a 7" panel on the wish list - but first I want the AOA indicator which displays on the G3X and a landing height system. Then the tank reseal and then....... loving the O, by the way. put nearly 35 hours on it so far, and only a couple of minor squawks (trim switch, stall warning vein and that flight tire at Bullhead) that I had to take care of once I started flying her...

I don't like the AoA on the panel.  I had it on an Aspen, and it isn't convenient in my landing scan.

I just installed a Alpha AoA with the display up on the glare shield.  So in the line of sight on landing.

I put in a 7" right side display and love it.  And my pilot friends love it even more.  The nice thing is with a 7" G3X, is it can display as a PFD for a right seat pilot.
