KFC 200

Hello Aztec drivers,

I have a KFC 200 in my 1980 F model. I’m looking at 8-12k in repairs, overhaul and recertification. I’m thinking a new autopilot is the better route at this point. Who makes the best/most capable autopilot for our Aztecs?

Thank you for your help.

Kees,

I have a complete 14V KFC200 autopilot that I will be removing from my 1980 Seneca for a GFC500 upgrade. (May as well do it now while I am installing a complete new stack).

What parts do you need?  The serves and controller are probably the same.  The 'computer' came in different dash numbers, and a board for the flight director.

I would try keeping yours going until a GFC500/600 becomes available?

Don

"Hello Aztec drivers" ???

"1980 F model" ?????  NO SUCH THING

Same post in Modern Mooney!!

This is another BOT like Canadian Gal - I suspect more here.  Geez @Aerodon - don't give "it" your email and phone.

From 1976-1981 Piper made an F model Aztec.

I get that - you are absolutely right.  But this is a Mooney forum - a Single Engine forum.  When I see "F Model" I think M20.  This "thing" is asking for advice on applications in a Twin of completely different manufacture.   That is like someone dropping in on a classic Corvette forum and asking for Four Wheel Drive transfer case advice for an old Dodge PowerWagon.

He's probably posting it on many aviation sites looking for his answer. On here it probably should have been posted under Miscellaneous Aviation Talk

The only autopilots I'm aware of that are approved for the Aztec are the the Piper branded Altimatic (long since discontinued), the one you have (KFC200) which can still be serviced,  and the STec 55x.

Call @Jake@BevanAviation in Wichita for help with your KFC200.
