Presumably this is all fake?

Definitely staged but I’m not sure if the passengers were in on it. Regardless, there are limitations on what you can do in normal category in a 172. Looking through the windows, he was really cranking out some unusual attitudes as well as quite a few instances of Zero G floating.
I can’t imagine the management at LA Flight Academy signed off on the idea if they knew exactly what they were going to be doing.

I don't think pushing the nose over is exceeding any limitations here, zero G certainly isn't.

It was a hilarious video though.

The only question would be if the pax weren't in on it

In 1978, when I was Director of Ops at an FBO/Flight School I had a prohibition against instruction,  execution of stalls, simulated forced landings as well as execution of banks beyond 50 degrees with passengers on board. I went on a week long vacation to Disneyland.... and they took that opportunity to ignore my strictures. A part time instructor decided he wanted to get checked out on the Bellanca Viking from a full time instructor. He invited two colleagues he worked with at IBM to go along. I could fill a book with the human factors involved but bottom line, the plane crashed due to engine failure, it failed to glide properly because it was over gross due to excess fuel not detected by either instructor and two people in the back seat. 3 people were incinerated in front of elementary school children in the parking lot of the school. It haunts me to this day.

All staged…passengers in on it as well. Maybe someone sees something I don’t but the first step is identifying possible violations and then building a case to prove violations. Jackass behavior for sure. Illegal? I didn’t see anything,

I remember from my 172 days that acrobatics were prohibited in NORMAL category. UTILITY category had a list of approved acrobatic maneuvers. What I thought I saw, watching the ground through the windows, were some pretty extreme unusual attitudes that wouldn’t fall into approved maneuvers with rear seat passengers.
I was just wondering what people thought about how the FAA would react to a video like this that is just another example of content creators pushing the limits for new content.
I found this video after watching a Lew Dix video discussing that he had been turned into the FAA by a viewer who tried to bust him for being in a formation that he wasn’t a part of.

Hopefully it's all set up and passangers knew. I see the humor but Not funny in my opinion with passangers that may have been turned off completely to GA due to this prank. I feel like the GA community is an aging fleet not just the aircraft and not being backfilled appropriately. An enjoyable flight might be what anyone of the passengers needed to be like you know maybe "I would like to do this".  GA needs allies more than people indifferent to it or that despise it. If I recall the video correctly they mentioned Santa Monica, not that it matters now decision is made but come 2029 that's 1 less option in a real engine trouble situation in that area. Mainly because people don't want GA around and the land is more profitable sold off as parcels than an airport. I feel videos like this or trevor jacob  hurt our minority community more than the cheap laugh on YouTube is worth.

There's more to my opinion but I'll leave it at that.

Perhaps it's a generational thing. Or maybe it's more about consumption of online content. It seems obvious to me that all of this was staged. No one in these videos displayed the type of behavior that one exhibits when truly in fear. They were in character (just barely)

There is nothing that I can see in the video that qualifies as a provable violation.  It could be cause for an FAA fishing expedition but no obvious violations in the videos I saw.  The FAA's definition of aerobatic has nothing to do with the list in the "Acrobatics" listed in that 172 POH.  Some of those listed qualify as aerobatic, some do not.  Presumably you practice "Steep Turns" and "Stalls" in your Mooney (hopefully more than every two years). "Steep Turns" and "Stalls" are on the maneuver list.  Surely you are not conducting Aerobatic flight in an aircraft that is placarded against intentional aerobatics?

I see no provable violations of 91.303.  No provable violations in terms of loading.  No maneuvers (spin) that require the aircraft be loaded in the utility category.

It looks like a nothing burger in terms of violations or dangerous maneuvers.  Silly ≠ illegal.
