You can easily make or buy paper funnels.  If you make one, be sure to use some printer paper or something that has a little weight to it.  A tear-off pad or other light weight paper may not hold up long enough for all of the heavier oil to get into the engine.

And I was going to post a link to some inexpensive funnels, but they've really gone up in price.  But I do see that you can get 200 Snow Cones for $17.  Scissors or a quick tear and you're all set!   https://www.amazon.com/Disposable-Snow-Cone-Paper-Funnel/dp/B07V4GNFNK/ref=sr_1_10?keywords=paper+funnel&qid=1677688662&sr=8-10

(Sell all the extra's off to your friends and you may even make a few cents. :D)

I’ve never met a piece of paper that failed while using it as a funnel. I’ve been doing it for 30 years. I use mini legal pads in the cockpit, so that’s what I usually use. The oil seems to reinforce the paper rather than destroy it.

I modified the pourer that comes with a case of Phillips 20-50. The problem with using it as is, is the curve doesn't allow it to screw on to the filler tube without hitting the cowling. At least on my J. So I took a heat-gun and straightened it. Now it screws right on to the tube, and the 20-50 bottle fits on the other end.

When carrying it in the plane, I screw an old oil cap onto the threaded end aIMG_2080.jpg.cc6063fdb328783e10407111021f9db8.jpgnd push a 1"ID PVC cap on the other end. I put it in a can when in the plane with the threaded end down. I don't know if the PVC end is "oil tight". I know the threaded end is.

Three pages on how to pour oil… then I guess I’d better weigh in.  I carry about 8 ounces of uranium in a velvet sack with a Mooney logo in the baggage compartment.  The ionizing radiation very effectively oxidizes the extra oil on the funnel so there’s never any cleanup. Now you have to be careful not to get it too close to the plastic funnel or it can melt and burst into flames.    Also takes a while to vacuum all of my hair that’s falling out from the plane, but never any oil stains on the carpet.

If you have other questions, check out the answers on the Amazon page…

I don’t think the uranium solution can be used.
it says it is for educational and scientific purposes only.

Operation uses are apparently forbidden.;)

Small funnel that barely reaches the filler tube, wide enough that it barely fits into the hole (really a perfect mount). It takes 2 paper towels. 1 to wipe the big end - stuff into big hole. 1 to stuff through the smaller hole. Small surface area allows for Never leaking enough to overwhelm your 2 paper towels. Throw it in your gear tote.

get to where your going, the paper towel goes in the trash, funnel is clean, see ya later.

Yes, but you have to wear the nail polish.

Nah, the nail discoloration is due to the radiation!
