Will.iam Posted December 12, 2022 Report Posted December 12, 2022 Interesting looking app under development that i will try out the next time i go fly. One of the parameters it is asking for is wing area. Does anybody know what our wing area is? I see wing span and even wing loading values but I can’t seem to find anywhere the published wing area. I’m guessing 174? Quote

201Steve Posted December 12, 2022 Report Posted December 12, 2022 That's interesting. I wonder if the iphone "ahars" is better than an external. I know that with my Stratus, it's not always very stable. Likes to hunt around. Would be sort of sad if there was ever a person stranded in IMC with system failures that had an iphone in their pocket... if it works well... Quote
Will.iam Posted December 12, 2022 Author Report Posted December 12, 2022 Well one interesting thing is that it needs to calibrate standing still so it wouldn’t work well i assume if you forgot to start it up before you took off. Also would require you to mount the ipad or iphone to a panel as i think the yoke mount would mess up the ahars. If it links to the garmin345 via bluetooth would be a way better solution will have to wait and see. Quote

Also, make certain it’s mounted solid. in my tests the stratus is extremely accurate. On my to do list is to permanently mount it, any mount that moves or a suction mount can easily lose its orientation. Quote
