Rocket maintenance referral

I’m located in southern CT. And thought Before I travel far (isn’t that what Mooneys are for?) If anyone can recommend a mechanic or shop familiar with the tsio520nb / rocket 305 installed in a m20k.  

I reckon there’s no better place to get a referral than from other Mooney owners.

Let’s see what MSer is in your neighborhood…. For a good recommendation…

I usually ask @takair / Rob for info about that area….

Not too far to the NW… is @aviatoreb with a Rocket…

Getting the fuel system set up perfectly for the K’s engine is as complex as it gets…

It may be worth flying the distance for the best recommendation… 

Of course my favorite NJ mechanic has a Continental 520 in his plane and is pretty handy with the manuals and the set up…   Just don’t look past the firewall…. V—>

I see you are out of 42B, but is the picture of your plane at BDR?  I currently keep my plane there.  

A friend who spends some time on the forum here sometimes uses Henry Webber’s, in PA.  You may check with them.  There used to be a few others in CT who were familiar, but I’ve kind of lost track of them.

I'd give Dave Mathiesen at Air Mods & Repair a call (609-259-2400).  Located at Trenton-Robinsville Airport, NJ (N87)

They are a Mooney Service Center and have been working on Mooney's (including mine) for decades.  And I've seen a few Rockets in there. 

Though I think I heard he may be away this week.

As for my engine, I am confident with the guys on my own home field for general information regarding keeping it in good shape because these same guys work with Cape Air which flies the Cessna 402 and that particular aircraft uses the TSIO520VB which is oh so close to the TSIO520NB in our rocket that came from the Cessna 340/414.

I have used AirMods in NJ, and Dave is a magician - he can do anything - he REALLY knows Mooney.  I would definitely use him if he were closer.

Come by and visit sometime!

I am at 42b but that photo was taken @ KGON, close though !

+1 for Dave Mathiesen…. He may be seasonal…. With two different places to be… the shop is always open, but it is his expertise that you want….

I also use 39N with good results over the last 20+ years…
