Also be careful about how they came to be removed from the cirrus… Im not saying they won’t work, but there have been discussions about not getting support for avionics removed from “crashed” aircraft.

I prefer to use "uneconomically repairable" which is exactly the situation of the donor Cirrus.   Engine failure, CAPS pull, broke wing on touchdown.  New wing is over $250K if Cirrus is willing to sell one. Everything in the cabin is in perfect working order.

Yeah I don’t doubt it. The cirrus could probably be repaired and the avionics would work. I have zero reference, but we have a thread around here talking about Garmin or avidyne or someone not supporting avionics out of “incident” aircraft.  It might be fine, just proceed carefully…

Both Avidyne and Garmin will not support I believe.

False.  Avidyne, as usual, has a ridiculous policy that they will not support "accidented" aircraft avionics which is just plain silly.

I know 1st hand.  Had the conversation with a support rep.  and in the end he was not able to differentiate  just what constitutes an "accidented" aircraft.  In that particular case, the Avidyne avionics came out of a Piper Mirage that went off the runway.  Ripped the gear off, the insurance company "wrote-it off" (another somewhat nebulous term) , no injuries , cabin and the rest of the plane didn't have a scratch.   The dual IFD440 were installed in other aircraft, no problemo, but the DFC90 AP head was STC'd to the airframe, so they denied.

Garmin has NEVER posed a problem with this.
