GaryP1007 Posted June 3, 2022 Report Posted June 3, 2022 It amazes me time and time again with how unfamiliar the service/sales reps are at Sirius with the aviation product. Even calling the phone number dedicated to aviation I was asked this question after giving them the radio ID in the Mooney "sir, will this add weather to your SUV?" Thankfully once the account is set up it pretty much runs automatically, but still......it must be a decent piece of their revenue stream. The staff is just not trained properly to talk to the aviation subscriptions. Quote
Andy95W Posted June 4, 2022 Report Posted June 4, 2022 Just wait until it comes time to cancel your subscription. 10 years ago I finally got mine to end when my credit card expired. Quote
carusoam Posted June 4, 2022 Report Posted June 4, 2022 While they are out to lunch…. Check the price on your aviation subscription…. Then compare to the Mooney yachting subscription…. You may prefer that your Mooney yacht flys around using SiriusXM…. Things I have read around here… -a- Quote
FlyingDude Posted June 4, 2022 Report Posted June 4, 2022 What additional value does sirius add over the usual adsb-in? Ps: don't care about the radio. Quote

Ps: don't care about the radio. lots of places i fly have marginal reception while low, and sometimes the celings are such that you end up staying low. New years day i couldnt get any radar returns on ADS B coming through southwest montana. It was getting dark. Destination was home at Coeur D alene, Idaho. About 25 miles out of missoula it started to snow. ADS-B shows nothing. i change destination to missoula, and am finally able to pick up flight following 10 miles out of missoula, and am told of an area of moderate precip between me and missoula. ADS B finally loaded as i got into the missoula valley. Another place i fly, i cant get cell coverage on the ground. SO, i made the decision to get XM on my new avionics. Once i power the avionics, i can spend a few mins on the ground reviewing the WX for the return trip home and confirming it looks like what i thought it should. The GDL52r pushed the info to both the G3x units and my ipad. personally, i like XM weather and radio in the cockpit, but ADS B does do some thing better, such as turbulence layers. Bryan 1 2 Quote
