I took my first long trip alone in my Aerostar before the new year, and 2 hours into it, I was really missing my legs out in front and the reclined position. There is no debate for me, the Mooney cabin is perfectly designed for comfort.  Even two larger people merely need to offset the seats to find all the room one could need.   
if there was one deficiency in the Mooney I could choose to fix it would be the noise.

People aren’t getting “larger”, they are getting fatter. 
Visit any mall, airport or theme park, or any public place really, it is on display.

I have a friend that bought a new Cirrus about 3-4 years ago which he says is much more comfy than my Mooney except for a long flight, he prefers the Mooney by a large margin if he has to fly more than 2 hours, he mentioned the fatigue factor is much better in the Mooney go figure it’s similar to I guess the Aerostar

I have owned a 172G and now a 182E.  I have ferried a Grumman AA5 and flew in a M20C.  I have to say the 172 And now the 182 are the largest feeling cabins to me.  The straight sides and the distance between the front seats on my 182 has allowed me to put a centre console that is at least 4” wide between the two seats.  Before I had this installed my son who is much more agile could climb into the back seats between them. The next is the Grumman for size it worked for me and another pilot to fly from Alberta to NS last summer.   It felt tight but the shoulder width was manageable.  The M20 does not work unless one of us is all the way back.

I flew in might right seat yesterday with another PIC in the left seat.  Does anyone else feel like the right seat is tighter than the left seat in both shoulder and leg room?  I have more sympathy for my passengers now.

With my right side not having brake peddles I have more room than in the left with the brake peddles.

Every single ga plane I have ever been in feels “stuffy” to a degree. 
I think I got used to that, what the Mooney had that none of them have, (for my preference), is the semi reclined position with the legs almost flat in front of you. 
Even if the Mooney is the tightest regarding width, the seating position outweighs everything. 
I have done 6+ hour in one leg in my ovation and it was more the sound and boredom than comfort that made me ready to stop. 
Two hours in a Cessna and I’m ready to land and walk around. 
I know most people must prefer that upright chair position, because all planes come that way, but I still prefer the Mooney.

I just fly with someone half my size in the right - my wife!!!   :-)

But then again we don't go more than 2+30 without stopping and smelling the roses

Why make the trip arduous? Take your time and enjoy the travel.
