I am in love <3 with the GTN750xi

I just spent the last couple of hours playing with the GTN750xi simulator on the ipad
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/garmin-gtn-xi-trainer/id1491538794

All I can say is wow! the user experience is so much better and faster than the 530/430, and the integrated transponder, audio panel , WX and traffic is really amazing

Among my favorite features:
*  plates integrated into the moving map
* TAWS / traffic
* NAV/COM frequencies auto loaded and identified
* integrated audio panel and transponder
* when you activate a leg, it depicts and flies the intercept
* VNAV for crossing altitudes and restrictions — no more guessing
* integrated fuel planning (not just gals to dest on the shadin totalizer)
* winds and TAS display
* identifier prediction50

I feel like i’ve just scratched the surface

Do you have any experience with the legacy GTN 750?  (Non-xi).

Aside from the new location of the home button, they seem identical to me. I know that there are some improvements in the guts of the thing, but not much obvious in the user interface.

The newer versions are built with a faster processor….

But, I’m not sure if you can get a good comparison using the simulator…

The sim might be running at iPad speeds…. Which might be unfair to the GTN…. :)

Not sure of you were replying to me or to the OP... I have a 750 in the Mooney and a 750xi in the Piper, and despite my concerns about bouncing between the two, it was pretty much a non-event. The only thing I ever do wrong is try to hit the wrong spot for the home button :)

I was using your input… and responding to the OP at the same time… :)

When the TXi was new… big G made it a point for those interested in a swap….  It was more than just a touchscreen….

And a lot of them got swapped for the newer device…

Pp thoughts only…

I had heard that there was a noticeable difference in screen resolution, but I honestly can't tell the difference. It doesn't seem like they're taking advantage of the extra pixels.

The one big functional difference is that the Xi has Smart Glide. Which I understand is only possible with the faster processor.

Nope, just the GNS530/430 and a few hours behind a G1000
